POUSADA BEIRASOL — Hotel in Sofala Province

Please note that this review is about Pousada Beirasol! This is from the same owners but outside of the center and a bit more upscale.||The reason we stayed there was because the "regular" Beirasol was full (we didn't book upfront and apparently during the weekends they have a lot of guests).||As I said, Pousada Beirasol is not in the city center (about 30 minutes walk) and is located in the area where the embassies used to be.||The room was very big with a terrace and a nice bathroom, all very clean. There was a good working AC (necessary to keep the mosquitoes out).||We met the manager who was a very friendly lady and also the guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful.||Only the night guide had problems figuring out what he had to do when in the morning our taxi (which they ordered) didn't come in time. Eventually he found out that calling another cab was the best option.||The breakfast was quite basic but this could have been because we left very early.||Pousada Beirasol is quite an expensive place, but you get very decent value...

BeiraSol is a bargain in Beira, and yet still has lots of amenities. It's a small guest house (looked like five or six rooms, didn't count) and provides cold ac, wireless, cable (including English channels) and a tiny refrigerator. Bathrooms are small but are spotless and ensuite. Rooms are on the small side, but are REALLY cute (in an Ikea kind of way), and very clean and comfortable. It is attached to the Monaco Restaurant, and two blocks from Pappa's restaurant on one side and 2+1 on the other. All three of these restaurants are clean, and foreigner friendly. Friends of mine and myself were victims of fraud in Beira and we had no accommodation arranged for the night. After asking around, we reached contact with Pousada Beira Sol's manager who was very empathetic to our situation and allowed us to stay in a room for a lower rate. We are very grateful to the management and extremely friendly staff. The room is beautiful, large, and very clean. This is absolutely great value for anyone that spends money for a night here.
