Arriving at night the outside of this place didn't really hint at the quality of the accommodation that lay in store. As with most places here there is a foreigner rate, and here I must say the difference between local and foreigner is particularly high. Nevertheless, it is still not expensive when considering that the rooms are a great size, well finished, clean and comfortable. It has been either completed or refurbished recently, and so the rooms are at present in a very pristine state. There is great cupboard and hanging space, a decent desk, sitting area, and a good size wet room style bathroom. My only real complaint about the room is the lack of a powerpoint or small light next to the bed, though the layout may of course vary across rooms.||||It remains very much a business hotel though in my book. Firstly, it is on the southern edge of town and so not the best for the main tourist sites or for a nice dinner nearby in the evening. Secondly, the decor is a little on the bland side for those wanting a holiday hotel with character.||||Staff were all very friendly and well trained, and should be commended. Breakfast is served on the top floor restaurant, which has nice views over the city. Breakfast itself was what you would expect, nothing amazing but most people will find something to satisfy and at least the coffee is brewed.||||All in all I would definitely recommend this one for those looking for a clean and comfortable hotel in the city, provided you are ok with the location and slight lack of character. For businessmen who want the services and some workspace at a good price, it's a very...
Read moreMy two children, 17 and 20, and I stayed here. We arrived at the hotel from the airport a few days in advance and Mrs Thaw arranged for us to leave our luggage there whilst we went to Bagan for a couple of days. We had arranged for the bus to pick us up from this hotel and Mrs Thaw called them to confirm the pickup. As a sidenote, the buses you book online pickup and drop you off at hotels in Mandalay and Bagan, the system works. However, Mrs Thaw's help made it all stress free.|As for the hotel, the rooms are new and really nicely designed , the family room we were in even had a loft where my daughter could get privacy. The restaurant has very good food, they do western breakfasts if you want one, and also a 360 degree view of Mandalay and the...
