I am a teacher in Mandalay and the school pays for a hotel room for me here. In consequence my experience may be a bit out of the norm. I live on the top floor in a room that is small but adequate for my needs. When I first came here there was NOWHERE to store my clothes in the room, but within a day the hotel had installed hanging rods and moved things around so that I could stack T-shirts, shorts etc. In a nutshell, the staff will do anything you ask (within reason). ||||Breakfast is from 6:30 to 9:30 with a choice of Western or Myanmar food. There are 4 hot Myanmar dishes that change every day -- typically some kind of rice dish, noodles, plus a main dish and fritters. There's also fresh fruit, cereal, bread/toast plus eggs to order. I eat a good breakfast each morning and am good to go until dinner time (which I also usually eat in the restaurant). The restaurant is on the 5th floor with air conditioned indoor seating, or terrace seating overlooking the mountains.||The hotel is 2 minutes' walk from my school so situation is perfect for me. Pagodas etc are a bit of a step. I like walking so it's all right for me, but tourists should probably think about cabs. No my area...
Read moreI only spent one night at Hotel Ye' Myanmar but was very pleased with my time there. My room was very clean, spacious and modern looking. The breakfast was included and fantastic and located on the rooftop of the hotel with a beautiful view of the city. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and I couldn't have received a warmer welcome. I had a great dinner at the very pretty Thai restaurant located next door to the hotel.||||On a side note, I took a shuttle van to the hotel and I was super grateful (and relieved!) that Hotel Ye Myanmar was the only hotel the driver knew of! I felt so bad for the other folks in the shuttle who had the driver stop at a random hotel so they could get out to take separate taxis (hopefully) to their...
Read moreWe spent 10 days at Hotel Ye Myanmar. The staff was very kind and took good care of us. They really liked our baby, and gave us a spare mattress for her when it turned out they didn't have baby cots. Breakfast was delicious and we loved the view from the restaurant. The bed was comfortable and the AC never went out. Only issue we had was this: our non-smoking room had been smoked in when we first arrived. Another night the smell of smoke permeated the room from a neighboring smoking room. Last, we found a cigarette butt behind our bed. The staff was very kind in every case. I hope they keep all smoking rooms on the same floor going forward so that the non smoking rooms are...
