I initially booked 1 night in Ostello Bello, the popular backpackers hostel just around the corner, due to visiting their sister hostel in Mandalay (which was amazing) however I wasn't too keen on Ostello Bello. I checked out the next morning and looked for other hostels/places to stay in the area and saw Mingalar Hotel Bagan was just around the corner so I popped over and asked the host if I could have a look at the rooms and what rates they charged.||||The dorms were 4 bed dorms, which were more spacious, had better lockers (for a backpacker), a better layout and nicer bathrooms than Ostello Bello. The place was also a lot quieter and you still have the option of going to the bar at Ostello Bello if you want to be part of the big crowd/meet people.||||I booked for a couple of nights at first and then ended up staying for 2 further nights. The guesthouse is run a lovely woman and her family (husband, sister in law, nephew etc...) Some spoke better English than others but all the staff were very friendly and helped where they could. I helped out with some things for them and they ended up treating me like a king from the first day onwards. They fed me in the evening (which isn't included in the normal booking), allowed me to use their e-bike (much better than the ones you rent up the road - as less used/better battery life), did my laundry and helped with advice on everything I could have wanted. There's a handful of places I've stayed in the world where the host has been absolutely outstanding in every aspect, however I think this place is number 1 on my list!||||Rooms cleaned every day, towels and sheets changed, bottled water and toileteries provided every day. Nice free breakfast - either local or western. Much cheaper than other places in the area also.||||I cant recommend this place...
Read moreI have been all over the world and have never received such an amazing treatment. Not only was I given both tasty breakfast and lunch (even though lunch was not included when I booked), but I was given free access to their e-bike. I have been treated with such love and care that I find it hard to express how I feel. On the last day, to express my gratitude, I had to go and buy ice cream and cakes to the incredible owner and her amazing workers. Best place to stay in Bagan (and possibly the world!). I will cherish this experience for the...
Read moreVery good place for stay meanwhile you explore the temples of Bagan. The location is perfect 20 mts from the main street but without the noise of it and near restaurants (there is one pretty good just crossing the street), the rooms are big and clean, the bed very comfy for rest after a day exploring. The breakfast isn’t the best, but it’s ok. The only thing that could be better is that the staff speak almost nothing of english, but they are always willing to help. A good option for stay In Bagan, good value...
