I'm here for holidays with my hubby and another 5 family. We actually stayed at Bay of Bengel (BOB) for 2 nights from 28-30 April, but in the end we decided to extend one more night in ngwe saung. Unfortunely there's not enough room for us. There's only two rooms left and we need six. We try to search for another hotel which can provide us with six rooms. In the end Aureum Palace is the only hotel can provide us with what we need. So we have no choice but to take it. The walk in rate for one sea view room is 155USD per night. So we check in for 6 rooms and due to the hotel is quite full we only get the furthest room from the lobby. We only knew that there's no buggy for us after check in so that we have to walk around 5mins to reach our room under a hot weather around 42°c. I've ordered a medium cooked beef steak and seafood Chinese style steam rice after checked in to my room and I've been waiting for almost an hour to receive it. The worst case was the beef was not cooked and the squid was so smelly. The seafood was totally not fresh. I was quite disappointed because I was very hungry and been waiting for one hour. The house phone in the room and heater was not function. I was showered with the cold water at night. Even the air condition is not cold. It was really hot in the room and I was perspiring during midnight. I wanted to go for massage in the evening but the spa is too far from my room. So I call to the spa centre and told them that I'm a six months pregnant woman. I request for massage in the room. Because I know that normally we can request to do the massage. But they refuse to come. I was quite upset about it. The next day morning we get to know that there's bicycle provided in the hotel for customer. So we ask for one bicycle from the hotel staff. After awhile the staff get back to us said that there's only two bicycle they have and already borrow out. Can you imagine a five star hotel tells you that they only have two bicycle. During check out. We were all waiting and some people paying their bills in the lobby. The weather is around 42°c and we all were sweating a lot. Because there's no air con or even a fan in the lobby. So I went to the counter and ask for cold drink and some cold towel due to there's some children as we get the drink when we reach the hotel yesterday. The staff from the counter refuse to give and told us have to pay for it. The attitude was really really bad. This is the first and also the last time I'll stay at this hotel. I was a stewardess for five years and I've been staying in so many hotel, this is the worst hotel...
Read moreFirst of all, Aureum Palace Hotel is not for me. It's too dark for my taste. But then again, there aren't that many "good" hotels in Ngwe Saung. ||The shower and the toilet are separated, so in a way, it's good, but it also makes the space narrower. You will encounter with mosquitoes every time you're in the toilet, so that's a little let-down. The housekeeping sprays your room every single evening, but it is still not too much helpful. The toilet seat cover is stained, too, making the hotel a really dated one. The lights are so dim at nighttime around the hotel vicinity that it has a Bagan feeling to it. Some tourists may find it appealing, but for someone who's afraid of frogs and house lizards, this hotel (good ambiance for house lizards and frogs) do not match my taste.||What I'm really thankful for is that the hotel provides 24 hr generator electricity with good wifi, so, still lets you connect with the world. :D Breakfast is excellent in my opinion, and I love the wide pool, too.||The swimming pool has no security guards and I saw a couple of Chinese tourists washing their feet and SHOES in the hotel swimming pool! (The notice board needs to be explained in the Chinese language as well, I suppose). ||Last but not least, I am still grateful for the local and international tourists for visiting Ngwe Saung and lodging at Aureum Palace...
Read moreThe hotel is a beachfront property with a beautiful lobby, well maintained grounds, and great views. We were greeted with a very refreshing welcome drink. The checking in and out was fast and efficient.
We were in the deluxe rooms, which had a very unpleasant smell from cleaning supplies. The room was very spacious with a equally spacious balcony overlooking the garden. Someone from the adjacent room could easily climb over to the balcony, which can be convenient if travelling in a large group but can easily be a safety concern if travelling alone.
The room was well furnished complete with a desk to work from. The only downside was the rock hard mattress.
The bathroom came with complete amneties. The towels were huge but looked like it had seen better days.
The pool was a huge disappointment. It was so murky that we could not see inisde the first day. It was slightly better the second day. The music on the second day was not only loud but filled with explicits, which is inappropriate for poolside since it is place where little kids and families are hang out.
The breakfast buffet was decent with good coffee and selection of bread. The food from the alacarte menu was good. The cocktails were spot on too.
The prices are reasonable, service excellent, and the atmosphere and facilities could have...
