Husband and I selected this hotel, having never been to Myanmar before, based on online photos and the fact that it is a fairly new build. We went to this not-so touristy part of Myanmar specifically to spend a day at an ethically run Elephant camp (Green Valley). There are many Elephant camps in Myanmar due to the logging ban instituted a few years ago, so tourism keeps the elephants and their handlers (mahouts) employed so that's great. Not so great is that most camps (run by the government) could improve on the life provided to these wonderful and gentle creatures. So, we travelled out of our way to this area of Myanmar.||||Anyway, back to the hotel itself. We were pampered by the hotel staff. The room (actually bungalow...an upgrade from what we'd booked (a standard room in the hotel building) was clean and roomy. Mr. CoCo, who we perceived as the GM, was very knowledgeable and caring. He met us at the airport (about a 30 min. drive) and made our stay as stress free as possible (English is not spoken by most in Myanmar and certainly is the care when veering off from more touristy areas). ||||Mr. CoCo was hired to not just run the establishment, but to train select locals in the profession of hospitality. We ate most of our meals as well as lodging there. Food was very good (we got addicted to their fried cashews), especially considering the prices, and the service almost too caring. ||||While there, in addition to a desire to absorb some local culture, my husband needed to find a barber shop. We asked Mr. CoCo for directions whereupon he volunteered to drive us there. He not only did that, he stayed with my husband during the cut and because I'd wandered off with all our cash to check out the street life, he paid for the cut.. as well!! (Cheapest cut EVER, BTW...
Read moreA friend and I booked this hotel cause there was nothing good available in Kalaw. The hotel itself is really nice, big and clean rooms, nice pool, good breakfast and caring staff... BUT the real big deal are the manager and the owner: when we arrived the manager directly asked us if he could take us to a tour to discover the surroundings and to see the sunset from a viewpoint, which we gladly accepted... afterwards we asked him to drop us of in the center of Aung Ban to have dinner, but instead of just dropping us of, he showed us the good local places and even paid our food... apparently the owner had told him to take good care of foreign guests which he did to at least 100%... when we came back to the hotel, the owner was already waiting for us, invited us to a second dinner, while we waited we had a nice discussion with him about Myanmar’s history and culture...|The next morning we left and both forgot our swimming shorts on the balcony, which we recognized when we arrived 2 days later at Inle Lake... one email to the manager and our shorts were on the way to us, transport paid by the hotel... in many years of traveling and staying in hotels I have never had such good service and such...
Read moreWe booked 3 rooms 3 nights to visit Kalaw, Inle and Taunggyi. This hotel is central to these 3 locations which we wanted to visit. I like to submit review because of the exceptional hospitality provided by the staff from reception, dining room and housekeeping. They treated my group as VIP guests and made sure we are satisfied with all our needs. Their room rate and laundry service are very reasonable. Dining experience was very pleasant as well.||I hosted a birthday dinner celebration for my wife. To our surprise, my wife received a BD cake and a shan tradition dress from the hotel as a birthday present. Many thanks to Hotel Hnin Shwe Yee for the wonderful...
