Pro: good solution under 10$ in this town, full of hotels but less economic. It's a big structure, nice looking and comfortable, rooms are clean (wood everywhere), air con, good breakfast included and overall bikes for free for all day. The position of the town is ok for riding around. Cons: Wi-Fi exists but is ridiculous, it never works. They are very bad organised: for every needs (ex: may I buy a beer at the bar? There is no one there...) the staff had to ask to the only English speaking girl, which is usually busy with a long queue of tourists at the tour desk (she was nice in any case) If you wake up early in the morning for a boat tour, forget the breakfast: it takes 40 minutes for an omelette. The second day I came back to my room and my bed was assigned to a girl, with all her staff and it. Since no one was able to understand the situation in English, when the girl came back (1am, night) she had to move to another room, sorry for her. Tours organizations: I was disappointed (a lot) about a fact: I was in town during the balloon festival in November, they arranged a taxi for 8 people (so not a cab but a small pick up where they filled 9 tourists, and that's not the problem) go and back for 10$. The driver asked for 15$, then deal for 12$. It's not a matter of money, but it appears to me that tourism in Myanmar is starting to be the old fashioned tourism as in all the world. If they will continue to treat foreigners as free atm machines, they will continue to be a poor a country depending on my 5$ more or less. Excuse me this last, it's slightly related with the hostel, but they are part of the deal.

Read moreHotel welcome was extremely good - early room availability and free breakfast on arrival. This is a budget hotel, paid $28per night for two nights. Hotel arranged for a boatman to collect me and I walked to the canal with my young and very helpful boatman and spent a whole day on the lake as th only passenger, so had complete independence, very good value at 25,000 kyats plus generous tip.||||The garden is lovely, a long narrow corridor between the two parts of the hotel. The owner spoke French and some German, so nice to be able to meet European travellers and try out rusty language skills. Lots of Spanish people too. The owner is about to lease this hotel out to a friend so some change of management about to happen.||||The best thing about this budget hotel is the free bike hire. Asked for and checked out a bike, with key lock - no hassle However don't expect towels in the room. I had a double for single occupancy but there are more budget options aaailable in small dormitories at around 14,000 kyat per night. Plug in basin didn't work, mentioned it and it was fixed by the time I returned. Good customer service for a...
Read morePart guest house part full on backpacker hostel. Set 10 minutes away from the main part of town Manaw is quite large and has a number of freebies like free bike hire, breakfast included, free water refills - these are all great but due to the sheer volume of guests most services disappear fairly quickly and you're left wanting for food at breakfast or workable bikes. We stayed in a double room which was really nice with a few of the mountains and we were allowed to check in early (post overnight bus). Do note that once the morning check in lady leaves the rest of staff don't really speak much English making it hard to communicate which is cool except when you need something. Overall it's not a bad place to stay for the price but they need to fix a few small issues to...
