We stayed here for 2 nights hoping for a relaxing stay using the facilities advertised. We were very disappointed right from check in. We arrived early from a night bus and the man at the desk was grumpy and slow. Luckily we could get our room early and to be fair, the room was large and comfortable although the shower was poor. We were hoping for a nap but were woken by a phone call at 7am telling us breakfast was ready (despite previously being told we could have it 7-10) and then 10minutes later a knock at the door demanding payment. When we did go for breakfast later it had clearly been ready since 7 as was cold and a bit congealed. We weren't given any choice and were just thrown meat and fish dishes despite being vegetarian. ||The pool is huge and clean, but the supposed hot tub is full of murky green water and the sauna is still being built. The gym was closed and we could only use it after complaining and causing the unhelpful staff to phone their manager. We had dinner at the hotel which we later regretted - my husband ordered veg singapore noodles and had to send it back twice as each time it arrived covered in seafood. ||The next morning, for no apparent reason, we were awoken by knocking at 6.45am and in came staff with room service breakfast which we hadn't asked for and certainly didn't want so early!! ||Also, there is supposedly wifi but it didn't have any connection for the whole time we were there. ||When our room was cleaned, a pile of used tea bags was left just outside the door. ||Some of these issues could be attributed to a language barrier but at other times staff just seemed incompetent and...
Read moreInappropriate statements staff, security, cleanliness, especially for children. Review of Excel River View Hotel Pending review I stayed here twice, once three years ago and here with family. The staff, the cleanliness, the security, everyone just matches the one star review of this hotel. First of all, the cleanliness is terrible. The area around the poolside restaurant is filled with dirt, trash and leftover. The waiters never had a glance to the customers but brisk walk through the area, unlike, for example Hotel G’s Babett Eatery, whose waiters need a look from the customer to get them in 15 seconds.
The security is unsuitable to be trusted with anyone, especially kids. My little 5-year old kid went to the stair beside the pool and accidentally placed a slide. Around 10:30-11:00 AM September 3rd, the security staff beside the bar near the pool The security rushed to the place and said no slides can be placed. As I was telling the kid to put it away, he came beside, and grabbed the shoe from the kid’s hand, thus frightening the kid away. I got in between and took my kid’s hand and pulled him away from the guard. Those security who cared a kid’s slide did not dare to make middle aged men with beer cans, food, cigarettes inside and beside the pool go away. How pathetic. I told these to the information manager, Nyein Ma Ma kyaw who said she would help these issues solved as soon as the authorized person arrived back from vacation. I hope she would do the same as her words.
Overall, the place is for people who haven’t been...
