An Enchanting Sojourn Overlooking Inya Lake at Lotte Hotel, Yangon

Having recently enjoyed a 12-night stay at the Lotte Hotel Yangon, I felt compelled to share my delightful experiences. From the moment I stepped into the expansive and spotlessly clean lobby, it was evident that I was in for a luxurious stay. The presence of the high-rise Lotte residential tower across from the hotel only added to the modern allure of the area.

One of the standout features of this hotel is undoubtedly the breathtaking view of Inya Lake. Waking up to such a tranquil scene each morning was a daily reminder of the hotel's prime location.

As a frequent traveler and a self-proclaimed foodie, I was thoroughly impressed by the culinary offerings. Mugunghwa, the in-house Korean restaurant, quickly became a favorite. Whether I was indulging in their elaborate set menu or opting for a la carte options, the dishes were consistently impeccable. Their mool naengmyung, bean stew soup, tofu soup, and bulgogi are especially worth mentioning. Additionally, the Chinese restaurant, serving both Cantonese and Korean-inspired dishes, was equally satisfying. Dishes such as black bean noodles and champong left a memorable impression on my taste buds.

The hotel's recreational amenities are nothing short of extraordinary. The outdoor infinity pool, in particular, boasting an uninterrupted view of Inya Lake, was a refreshing retreat after a long day. If you’re like me and value a good breakfast, then Lotte Hotel won’t disappoint. Their breakfast spread is diverse and satisfying. Special mention must also go to the La Seine restaurant for their indulgent seafood buffet. Being served three grilled lobsters in one sitting is an experience I won't be forgetting anytime soon.

A shoutout to Angel from Mugunghwa for her exceptional service. Fluent in both Korean and English, she made each dining experience special. Additionally, the lovely lady whipping up omelettes at La Seine’s breakfast deserves praise for her consistent culinary skills.

The only aspect I didn't get to try was their weekend buffet at the lobby café, but from the looks of it, it promises to be a treat.

To sum it up, Lotte Hotel Yangon is a luxurious gem that manages to combine world-class facilities with warm Burmese hospitality. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking for a blend of comfort and culture in Yangon.

There were some issues but when I informed the hotel they quickly tried to rectify it.

From the lavish buffet breakfast with an extensive selection of both local and international dishes, to the fine dining options serving exquisite gourmet meals, the hotel's gastronomic offerings left me spoilt for choice.

Facilities at Lotte Hotel were top-notch. The fitness center was well-equipped, offering a variety of modern exercise equipment and a relaxing sauna. Additionally, the hotel's swimming pool provided a refreshing escape from the bustling city, offering a serene oasis for relaxation and leisure.

Situated in a prime location, Lotte Hotel was conveniently located near popular attractions and public transportation, making it easy to explore the city. Deeply Disappointed – Lotte Hotel Yangon Fails to Respect Religious Diversity

As a Muslim traveler, I must express my profound disappointment with the way Lotte Hotel Yangon handles cultural and religious inclusivity , particularly regarding the basic rights of Muslim guests.

It is truly disheartening that an establishment claiming to operate at an international standard appears to lack even the most fundamental understanding of religious and cultural sensitivity. The staff - especially at the gymnastics and aquatics centre - displayed an alarming lack of awareness and professionalism.

As Muslims, we must pray five times a day, no matter where we are -work, school, or even while traveling which is a non-negotiable obligation in Islam, irrespective of location or circumstance. During our visit, we were using the gymnastics and aquatics area. When it was time to pray, we quietly moved to a corner of the changing room, far away from anyone’s path, and prayed for less than 5 minutes.

Shockingly, one of the staff members seemed unhappy with us and complained about it. That felt very disrespectful and unprofessional. We were not disturbing anyone, we were simply practicing our religion in a peaceful way.

Lotte Hotel Yangon should either provide a proper prayer space or at the very least allow Muslim guests to pray quietly without being made to feel uncomfortable or unwanted. This kind of treatment is unacceptable at any hotel—especially one that calls itself “international.”

I hope the management takes this seriously and trains the staff to be more respectful and understanding toward guests from different backgrounds. Until then, I do not recommend this hotel to Muslim travelers or anyone who values religious freedom and...
