A Serene Escape at the Edge of Shivapuri: Royal Villa Resort Leaving behind Kathmandu’s bustle, the winding road through Shivapuri forest leads to Royal Villa Resort, a peaceful haven nestled in nature and community. As birds chirp and a stream whispers nearby, the resort emerges, earthy yellow and exposed brick facades with mud red sloped roofs, gracefully aligned with the terrain and local Tamang settlement. Thoughtful touches greet you, ample parking, a playful children’s zone, and inviting grand flagstone steps, homely reception and dining area with expansive views of mature trees. The resort unfolds in terraces: lawns, campfire spots, tent zones, selfie corners, all blending naturally into the hillside. At its heart lies a seminar hall (great for up to 50 people) beside a three-story block. A water cascade near a secondary hall adds calm. Higher still, the rooftop dining area offers breathtaking views of the Kathmandu Valley, especially magical at dusk. Private villa blocks tucked in the southwest offer quiet seclusion, embraced by the hillside. The staff’s warmth and the diverse, well-prepared meals during our 6-day youth camp made the experience even more memorable. A highlight? A soulful Damphu performance by local Tamang women: proof that tourism and tradition can coexist. There are areas to improve: weekends get crowded, impacting events and peace; mobile networks are spotty, and Wi-Fi could be better. But these are minor trade-offs for such a rich, immersive stay. From June 27 to July 2, 2025, Royal Villa gave us more than rest, it offered an experience. Where forest meets village, where children laugh, and where the city below feels far,...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Dining Experience!

From the moment we arrived at Royal Villa Resort, we were mesmerized by the breathtaking city view paired with the serene forest greenery ambiance—a perfect blend of luxury and nature.

Extremely Disappointed Unprofessional Staff and No Hospitality

I had a very unpleasant experience at royal villa resort. I was told in advance that I could use the facilities from 11:00 AM, but when I arrived, I was suddenly told that check-in starts at 12:00 PM. Even worse, I had to wait until 1:45 PM to finally enter. There was no apology, no explanation, and no sense of responsibility from the staff.

During the wait, i had to order drink, even though my course included them as a welcome drink. I was cold and asked to wait inside, but was told the room hadn't been cleaned and I couldn’t go in. I have asked for cabin but staff repeated the same phase “room hadn’t been cleaned” Even after they said someone would come to ask , no one ever did.

Eventually, I was given a small discount but money isn’t everything. My time was wasted, and my entire plan for the day was ruined. The experience was stressful and disappointing. This resort showed no sense of hospitality or professionalism. I felt ignored, disrespected, and frustrated. I will never return, and I do not recommend this place to...

I recently stayed at this hotel with a group of 21 people, and unfortunately, our experience was not as expected. While the hotel itself had the potential to be a great stay, there were several areas that were disappointing. 1. *Service:* The service was subpar at best. We had issues with the staff, who seemed untrained and unprepared to handle large groups. The manager, unfortunately, was not attentive or responsive to our needs, which made the entire experience more frustrating. 2. *Food:* The quality of the food was terrible. It lacked flavor, and the variety was minimal, which led to dissatisfaction among our entire group. We were hoping for a better dining experience considering the reputation of the hotel. 3. *Staff Management:* The lack of a competent manager and well-trained staff really stood out. The waitstaff was unhelpful and didn’t seem willing to address our concerns. As a group, we felt ignored and undervalued.

* one star is purely for red flag alert mentioned at last in this review. Otherwise a good resort. Located inside Shivapuri national park, danda gaun, this is a cool place. My recent trip was there for an office picnic.I can jot down following: 1. Food is good, ambience cool and chilly. 2. The stafss were helpful and friendly. 3. Value for price 4. Ample space 5. Good for a nightstay with their large number of rooms. But in my previous outing there, we were alloted a group room but bathroom was only one. RED FLAG: A person was filming our official picnic moments there without our consent. We reported it to the staffs about it and still he was continuing it. Later after FB surfing, i found it was the Owner MD of the resort who was live streaming it in his FB. So, our privacy was not protected by the owner himself. Absolute zero professionalism and respect privacy of guests. Beware about it.
