My purpose to visit the community lodge was to study the local cuisine. This place is gorgeous. Lovely people, smiling and greeting you. Tek, Madan, Gurung and the amazing ladies working there, everyone is so so warm and welcoming. Now, let’s talk about the food. Like many other communities in Nepal, Tharu community has a specific and rich cuisine. Different than most of the other communities in Nepal and the kitchen of Tharu Community Lodge is undoubtedly one of the best. Excellence of simple cooking. Organic Vegetables from their kitchen garden, meat and fish from around, makes it stand apart from others. Loved this lodge for so many reasons. The ambiance is beautiful, situated right next to community jungle. The rooms were very clean (including bathroom) and each room has its own area to enjoy outside. The lodge is close to the national park for day excursions. The staff were very attentive to ensure a personal experience. The food was delicious.

A local community dance troupe entertain lodge guests at dinner - they were delightful. Just be ready to pedal across the community and don't forget to go click click.

This was an unexpected stay based on a recommendation in Kathmandu. Despite arriving dirty and sweaty from two days of motorcycle riding we were welcomed like old friends.
