We stayed here one night, and we had read the great reviews, and therefore had big expectations for the experience. But when we stayed there we felt like there was quite an odd vibe and like the host didnât really want us there. She wasnât rude but not very talkative. The stay included cooking class and city walk. But the guided walk through the city was a bit disappointing as we felt like a lot of stuff about the community and the town wasnât really explained. Especially the cremation ceremony at two temples in the city. We did go to a small museum in the city inside a tempel where the guy at the museum was really sweet and explained everything there was in the museum with great passion. We were also disappointed with the cooking class as we mostly stood watching her cook and just say ânow I put this inâ. We thought we were gonna be way more involved and learn more than we did. We took part in making the flatbread but she kind of kept taking over, so you felt like you were more in the way of her cooking then part of a class, and also that you felt like you were doing it wrong without being giving a chance to learn how to do it right. ||She also gave us henna and a sari where we maybe thought she was gonna explain what it is for and maybe we were gonna take part in something while wearing it as we have seen it in pictures from their website, but we just put them on to take pictures in our room.||The place itself was very nice tho. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable and the food we had was great.||We also payed extra for a guided hike to Namobouddha where we were gonna see a ceremony with the munks at the temple. The guide was sweet but we again felt like there was a lack of explanation to a lot of stuff. And we came while the ceremony had begun and we felt like we were maybe disrupting it a bit when we walked in as we hadnât been told anything about what the ceremony was. ||So all in all itâs not a bad place but we just didnât feel as welcome as weâd expected and compared to some of the great reviews we saw our stay did not match their experiences. We also realize we were there for a short time and therefore we maybe missed out on some experiences due to...
Read moreWe stayed with Binu and her family on a G Adventure tour and the community homestay program. It was a truly magical way to see the area, learn about the Hindu and Buddhist religion and meet some of the different ethnic groups in the area. From hiking to learning about the food (with lessons), festivals, community feast and lots of dancing and laughs, it was a terrific experience. With Ashok as our guide, he helped take it to a whole other level. While all of this is amazing, it also feels good to participate in a program that helps elevate the status of the woman in the community. This truly is a win for everyone.
Our room was basic, clean and comfortable. Excellent hot shower and a Western toilet. The food was delicious and plentiful. The mattress is very firm in the style of beds there.
Our stay also gave us the opportunity to visit with other homestay places and the hospitality we had from Rajani and Ram was terrific. The laughs we had together will always be in my heart. Ram took us on a walk one day and was very informative of the area.
Thank you for sharing your...
Read moreOne of the most inspiring and incredible experience in my life. Everyone in their life should meet The Panauti community homestay. They host you as their family and give you so much, more than I excepted. I only stayed 2nights, but these only 2nights were very intense and meaningful. First because all the women of this community are so courageous. Some of them have experienced bad and sad things in their life but they find the courage to fight and live happily thanks to the community. Secondly the men, husbands or not, support them so much and believe that their community brings a lot to the entire village. They work hard to develop this village in order to have more independence and to share with the tourists they host, all the love they can share. Ashok and Shila Amatya, your sister and your daughter, and also all of your friends with who I have been lucky to have a « tea talk », thank you đYou have changed so many...
