We arrived just as it was getting dark . Totally surprised to find out we had to do a very steep walk about 8 minutes on rough terrain in the dark . No mention on expedia web site .Our room was 10 foot long at the most and less than5 foot wide . Two single beds put together in a L shape . One bed had a locker the other did not as one would not fit . Our luggage was lost in transit ,which was just as well as it would not have fitted into the room . I was told all rooms were the same size when I asked for a bigger room . The room would be considered a small double . It was very basic . A very small room would be ok if you had somewhere to sit . Yes there are terraces but in March the evenings are cold and you do not want to be sitting outside . We had to get extra blankets and a heater as it was cold . So we had to sit in this tiny room on the bed which was very hard . It was like sleeping on a plank of wood . Sheets are brown as were the towels . Brown sheets do not give a good impression . Breakfast was seved on the balcony which was nice . The yoke in our fried eggs had been broken and the toast must have been put one side under a grill for a few seconds . There are inspection hatches in the hall way floor but these are completely uneven . Very dangerous. The bathroom was not too clean ,dirt behind the toilet . Sink had stained sealant and was not clean around the taps . We got no hot water after running the shower for more than three minutes. Told by the owner there was plenty of hot water . I do not know how long the water needed to be run to get hot water . For the cost it was very basic accommodation . We stayed only one night instead of two and found an excellent hotel in town for one dollar more a night . I have travelled all over Asia ,often staying in Homestays . I am used to basic but I would pay a lot less than in the...
Read moreI found this little gem browsing on Airbnb and got hooked by the amazing views. I was not disappointed. We stayed here for 4 nights, two of them was raining,so no views, but the last two, the sky greeter us with some magnificent mountains glittering with the first rays of sun. It felt like heaven!|Juliette is a very lovely host, friendly and with lots of great stories, she knows the locals and offers helpful advice when needed. She helped us with a good deal for paragliding too! ||The room has what you would need: hot water, a firm bed, a western toilet, clean towels and even a plugged in against mosquitos (which is needed).||It's a beautiful point to explore the life around the villages, and observe what life is in here. 7 minutes walk you are in Shakti Pagoda, you can walk to the falls and to the lake and take a boat to cross to the city. ||I loved it here and if I can I will...
Read moreI just had my third stay at the Peace Dragon Lodge and loved this visit just as much as the previous two. We were treated to gorgeous mountain views on a couple of days (the weather determines the cloud cover of course). The lodge is just a short walk from the beautiful World Peace Pagoda...which is the perfect place to watch the sunrise each morning. Sure, it's a bit of a hike from the car park, but the walk is well worth it and the staff will organize your bags so you don't have to carry luggage yourself. Dinesh cooked all of our delicious meals and Juliette and Dibya were the perfect hosts. They helped us organize to get around with the wonderful Mylobar (Mike) the cab driver, who turned out to be a fantastic guide. The only place I'll...
