Nestled amidst greenery in Suryabinayak, this 4-star property aims to provide a relaxing retreat, particularly appealing to those seeking a break from the bustle of city life and a focus on wellness. First Impressions & Location: The resort's location, though a short drive from Bhaktapur Durbar Square (around 6 minutes walk according to some sources), offers a peaceful setting away from the immediate tourist crowds. While connected to the airport (Tribhuvan International Airport is about 18.4 km away, roughly 46 minutes by car), its position on a hilltop provides a refreshing ambiance with ample greenery. This is ideal for guests looking for a serene escape rather than being right in the heart of historical sites. Accommodation: Fortune Resort offers a variety of well-appointed rooms, including Deluxe, Premium, Suite, and even Presidential Suites. Guests can expect comfortable accommodations with amenities like air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, mini-bars (some complimentary), work desks, and private bathrooms with modern fittings (some including bathtubs and rainfall showerheads). Reviewers often highlight the cleanliness and the overall comfort of the rooms. Wellness & Recreation: The "Wellness Spa" in its name is a key draw. The resort boasts a full-service spa with multiple treatment rooms (including couples' rooms), offering deep-tissue massages, hot stone massages, Thai massages, and body treatments. The spa also features a jacuzzi, sauna, hot tub, and steam room, which guests frequently praise as highlights of their stay, noting the rejuvenating experience. Beyond the spa, guests can enjoy an outdoor swimming pool, a well-equipped gymnasium, and participate in activities like yoga classes and hiking/biking trails nearby. Dining: The resort features a restaurant and a poolside bar. Guests have particularly lauded the vegetarian menu, with many positive comments about the variety and quality of the vegetarian offerings, including local and Western cuisine. 24-hour room service is also available for convenience. Service & Hospitality: A consistent theme in guest reviews is the friendly, helpful, and attentive staff. This strong emphasis on hospitality significantly contributes to a positive guest experience, with many feeling well-cared for during their stay. Services like airport transfers, travel assistance, doctor on call, laundry, and valet parking further enhance convenience. Areas for Improvement (based on recent reviews): While generally positive, some recent reviews indicate areas where the resort could enhance the guest experience: Swimming Pool Area: One review from April 2025 specifically mentioned the swimming pool lacking chairs, shade, and service, leading to a less enjoyable experience. This suggests a need for better management and amenities around the pool. Consistency in Service: While many praise the staff, some isolated instances of inconvenience have been noted, implying that consistency across all service points could be improved. Overall Impression: Fortune Resort & Wellness Spa, Bhaktapur, offers a tranquil and well-equipped retreat. Its strong points lie in its dedicated wellness facilities, comfortable accommodations, a well-regarded vegetarian dining option, and a generally attentive and friendly staff. For travelers seeking a peaceful escape with a focus on rejuvenation and comfortable amenities, especially within the trusted ITC Hotels' group, this resort is a commendable choice. Addressing the feedback regarding the swimming pool area could further elevate the overall...
Read moreMy stay at Fortune Resort and Wellness Spa was far from what I expected a complete disappointment marked by poor service, unprofessional staff, and shocking internal behavior.|We ordered food in room, and it was delivered after 1 hour and 15 minutes which is completely unacceptable. Even worse was the food that the guy brought was wrong, and there was no proper apology or follow up from the staff. This shows a serious lack of coordination and care.|Only guy from the front desk was a bit professional looking after the guest and we were waiting for him to finish with some other guest whilst other front desk staff were just looking here and there. So we didn't put on the effort from our side. This shows lack in basic hospitality skills and failing to communicate or assist properly throughout the stay. They seemed untrained and disinterested in guest comfort.|One of the most disturbing parts of our visit was witnessing the General Manager publicly scold and humiliate staff in front of guests. This created a toxic and uncomfortable atmosphere, making it clear that internal management is seriously flawed. No guest should have to witness such scenes, and no staff deserves to be treated like that in public.|There was also no proper information given about steam, sauna, or breakfast timings, which caused confusion and missed experiences. On top of that, we were misled during checkout, charged Rs. 2000 for a buffet that was initially quoted at Rs. 1500 with 10% discount — again, no explanation and no accountability.|During our checkout, I had witnessed a strange thing that they were taking guest phone to drop review for themselves which amazed me. I don't think all their reviews are genuine.|This property urgently needs intervention from top-level leadership. I strongly request the Director or ownership to closely evaluate the current management team, guest handling, and staff treatment protocols. If not addressed, the reputation of this resort will only continue to decline.|Until there is serious improvement, I do not recommend this resort — neither for guests nor for hospitality professionals who deserve a...
Read moreI wasn’t sure what to expect at first — I’m backpacking solo and usually stay in hostels, where it’s easier to meet people. But after a long night bus from Lumbini to Kathmandu, I needed a break and a little TLC. I ended up being so pleasantly surprised — my stay here was absolutely exceptional.
From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel right at home. Everyone was so warm, kind, and genuinely welcoming — I honestly can’t relate to any negative reviews. They go above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable and cared for.
A special shoutout to Anish, who is both hilarious and incredibly professional. He felt more like a friend — full of helpful advice and good vibes. Sunita gave me one of the best massages I’ve ever had, and her gentle energy was such a gift. Aviraj (forgive me if I got the spelling wrong!) was always laughing and smiling, bringing such a joyful energy to every moment while being super helpful. And Puja, who works in the restaurant, was so thoughtful and attentive — she even packed me a lunch for my hike! I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s running her own hotel one day.
Everyone I met left a lovely impression — and what really stayed with me was how genuine their smiles were. That means more to me than any polished service.
The setting itself is also incredible — peaceful, with breathtaking views. The pool is a dream, and if you get the chance, wake up early and do yoga by the water. It’s such a beautiful way to connect with nature.
Thank you all for such a memorable stay. Wishing you nothing...
