The worst host in my life. ||We reserved a king size bed. It was actually two single beds on a king size bedframe. The mattress and pillows felt like densely rolled up cotton but whatever we were happy at that point. We had the place to ourselves and marlose seemed nice. ||The following day everything went to hell. ||I went out for a walk in the morning and came back in an hour. She immediately stopped me by the pool and told me I didn't turn off the air conditioner so she went inside and turned it off. I saw our car parked outside so I didn't know my bf also walked out while I was out. It felt a little intrusive but I told her we're sorry and that he probably went out to get coffee and came back right away. She insisted it didn't matter and that we must turn off A/C even if it's just a minute. I told her I will. But she wasn't satisfied. She kept on telling me. I didn't know what to do so I told her that I will and just walked away. ||||The next day or day after the power went out at night. I was brushing my teeth in the bathroom and she knocked on my door. I ignored the first two because I was in the middle of brushing my teeth. She kept on knocking so I answered. She disturbed me at night to tell me she didn't turn off the power. I was stunned. What kind of sick person would think that? Why did she feel the need to tell me that? I could've been sleeping. That actually got me curious and looked around the other properties nearby and saw other houses had power. Later I learned that it does happen there in Bonaire. I asked her those houses with power, if they had generators. She just freaked out. She was pointing at the airport and completely freaking out. I just wanted to get out of the situation so I said I don't think you understood what I said. Anyways goodnight and ran back into the room. After 30 minutes or I hear frantic knocking. Nonstop. Calling my name. I was actually scared at that point. I didn't answer and she couldn't see me because of the power being out. ||||The next morning, she knocked on my door again. Not the gentle kind. She told me housekeeping lady was coming in an hour. I told her we didn't need housekeeping but she told me it wasn't up to me. We felt really uncomfortable. We checked into a different hotel. We rushed packing and got out. We decided to come back on the check out day to make sure we didn't leave anything so we had the key. On that day we got there around 9am. As soon as I tried to open the room, she showed up, yelling at me, what I was doing as if I was trespassing. I told her I'm here to check the room and return the key. She was not happy. She yelled at me not to go in the room because it's already been cleaned. I was really upset at how she was treating me. I gave her the key and walked toward the car. She followed me and yelled at me about us taking the key and disappearing. And that it was rude and so on. I jogged my way back to the car and telling her. Why she was following me. She came all the way to the driver's side and yelled at my bf what an awful person I'm. It was a nightmare. I feel like we started on the wrong foot but even without any of it, we felt we were being watched and didn't feel comfortable. ||||The other hotel we checked in was called Docks.    Read moreMyself and my partners stayed with Eric and Marloes at the end of April 2019. We came here for a 10 day scuba diving vacation on Bonaire. After reading the reviews and narrowing down our search we settled on the Caribbean Chillout and we’re so very glad we did. Eric and Marloes are delightful folks and wonderful hosts. We stayed in a room with a king bed, the air worked, the WiFi is free and flawless, the housekeeping is stellar and the entire place is clean and wonderful. The photo is of Eric cleaning the pool while we had coffee and waited for an afternoon scuba trip. (Read my review of AB Drive & Dive for that). Caribbean Chillout is located close to the airport and we caught a local shuttle ($69 round trip) to get there. Eric welcomed us, and shared a beer to start our trip. The place feels safe as well as quiet with a market a short walk and a BIG market a somewhat longer walk away. It’s possible to stroll to the waterfront if you wish, just bring good shoes to walk in as it’s not especially close. The room had a coffee and a tea pot, fridge, 4 burner stove and a clean, private bathroom with a huge shower. You and all your friends could shower in there together if you wish! By the pool is a plaza that Eric and Marloes have built, you can even sleep out there by the pool on a nice raised bed platform. The also have a bar and grill downtown, Woodstock, that’s fun and funky and worth a visit. I highly recommend Caribbean Chillout and you can count on quick and quality communication...
