I recently had the pleasure of staying at Mondi Lodge Hotel, and I must say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that made us feel right at home. I have never encountered a friendlier and more welcoming group of people.
Our first encounter was with Danita, who welcomed us to the lodge as if we were long-lost friends. She took the time to give us a tour, introducing us to the various animals on the premises, including cats, dogs, and even two donkeys. It felt like stepping into a charming village reminiscent of my grandmother's home, and it provided a truly unique and delightful experience.
One particular incident stood out during our stay. Unfortunately, my luggage was delayed, leaving me without any spare clothes upon arriving in Curaçao. However, Danita went above and beyond to ensure my comfort by offering me her own clothes for the time being. This gesture of kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on me and further exemplified the exceptional service at Mondi Lodge.
One aspect that I absolutely loved about Mondi Lodge was the breakfast. Each day, they offered a special item on their menu that was a delightful surprise. The variety and quality of the breakfast were truly remarkable, and I highly recommend trying these special treats during your stay.
As our time at Mondi Lodge came to an end, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness. I will especially miss Charlie, the most friendly and talkative cat I have ever encountered. The presence of the animals added a touch of warmth and charm to the entire experience.
Also, the ideal location of Mondi Lodge Hotel truly added another layer of convenience and excitement to the overall experience. Whether you wish to explore the city, shop, or bask in the sun at the nearby beaches, this hotel's proximity to all these attractions made it an excellent choice for an unforgettable stay in Curaçao.
Overall, Mondi Lodge Hotel provided us with a truly exceptional and relaxing stay. From the friendly staff, unique animal encounters, and delightful breakfasts, every aspect of our visit exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for a memorable and rejuvenating getaway, I wholeheartedly recommend...
Read moreI can't say enough fantastic things about the Mondi Lodge. My husband, daughter (15) and I stayed there recently for five nights. Danita and the staff are so welcoming and we were treated like family immediately. We stayed in the Flamingo - two bed/two bath. The patio is open-air with two ceiling fans and plenty of lights. There is a comfortable couch and chair, along with a coffee table as part of the "living room" - we spent many nights here listening to the birds, relaxing and playing Scrabble. There is also a picnic table, generously-sized refrigerator/freezer and kitchen sink with all the ceramic dishes and silverware you need if you decide to cook/eat in. The bedrooms are spacious with two bedside tables, comfortable beds/bedding, chair and full-length mirror. Plenty of counter space and shelving in the bathroom, along with a line to hang your wet swim clothes. Outside shower is simply AMAZING - wonderful, natural shower products too! A coffee/tea bar is available throughout the day with options for various types of organic teas, coffees, cappuccino, latte, etc. Magnesium pool area is serene with plenty of chairs for multiple groups to enjoy. The outdoor shared kitchen is well-stocked. We usually do not eat in, but we did use the BBQ one night. There are two grocery stores within 5 mins. We did rent a car and explored much of the island - beaches, mango plantation, national park, distillery, city center, etc. My daughter and I took a cooking class with Caribbean Chef - highly recommend this.||There is a deep, conscious commitment of the owners/staff to greater good of Curacao. We had meaningful chats with both Danita and her dad, George - who also let us tag alone for the morning feeding of all the animal residents of ML - Charlie the cat and Shadow the dog visited us at our palapa too! We learned a lot about the history of the island and current happenings from our insightful conversations. ||I'm finishing this review eating some toast with jam George gave me to take home - made from the fruits of Mondi Lodge trees! We can't thank Danita and her team enough for making our stay in Curacao so memorable. We missed them before we even left and can't wait...
Read moreI've been to 90 countries, and stayed in every type of accommodation from tents to 5 star, sleeping pods to safari lodges...but this is one of my favourite places I've ever had the pleasure to spend 3 nights in. For a start it's within easy distance of the airport, Williemstad and many beautiful beaches. I didn't have a car, but found food shops, restaurants and even flamingos within easy strolling distance of the Mondi, and the bus into town goes right past the lodge. However, if, like me, you just love swinging in a hammock drinking chilled wine, dipping in a cold water pool that is actually big enough to swim in, (just) and taking a stroll through beautiful trees and plants to visit the donkeys, then it can be hard to bother leaving the gardens. The lodge is made up of separate little wooden houses, spread through the garden, so you never hear anyone else, and if you are very fortunate, you might just get, as I did, the tree house, built round, and incorporating a banyan tree. On 2 floors, with an outside shower🤩, and huge comfy bed, it also has a huge terrace with upcycled furnishings, a big fridge, sink, and cupboards, and a hammock and swing chair. 🤗. On top of this, the room rate includes a great breakfast, there is a trust fridge in the communal kitchen area (though you can, in fact, drink the tap water) and the staff are all just so friendly and, well, cool, what more could you possibly need? |My only warning would be about mosquitoes 🦟 😒 which Curaçao is buzzing with. Sleep under nets, wear repellent, and be especially careful between 6 - 8 at both ends of the day. At sundown, when you are having that first world problem of how to drink a bottle of beer while lying horizontal in a hammock, remember that it is not just you who is desperate for a drink, and before you get into the hammock, I suggest long trousers and sleeves, as getting in is waaay easier than getting out when you are being sucked dry. 😉 |Just such a...
