The hostel was okay. But let’s start with the good stuff. The staff was super friendly and helpful, really amazing! There is a little common kitchen, which is very well equipped with a microwave, an oven, a stove, spices&oil, a fridge & pen to label your food, sections for food that doesn’t belong into the fridge and a dishwasher! never had that before in a hostel. But sadly I didn’t feel so safe in the hostel because you can’t lock your dorm room. There are two rooms in one container and you can look the door from the container but on the day this door is always open to get in some fresh air because the window in the dorm room is really tiny. The bathroom is in another container which isn’t a problem but there are just two toilets and three showers which is in my opinion not enough. In the nights it was always pretty loud because there is a club next to the hostel. The location is not the best but the hostel advertised their bikes. It is true there are bikes for 5€ a day but if the bike gets stolen even though it was locked you have to pay 300€ and the lockers were really bad. So all in all you have to outweigh what is the most important to you when you are in a hostel. But I loved the city Groningen, can totally...
Read moreWhile on a cycle tour holiday I decided that it was getting a bit cold for the tent and booked into a hostel for a couple of nights to explore Groningen. From the first communication, the owner Anna was lovely and helpful. It was easy to find and had a nice atmosphere (and was cosy). The co ed dorm was lovely and clean and had a decent amount of privacy considering. It was a busy couple of days due to a big event across the way and there were lots of people for breakfast (which is included in the price) and quite a lot of late arrivals which disturbed my sleep! The toilet and shower facilities were nice and clean and it was good to see there was still plenty of hot water after most of the hostel had been for a shower. Overall, its a really nice place where the owners have really put their personal stamp on the decor and everything has been thought about, from the board games and vintage games consoles to the...
Read moreThere was only a few people at the hostel when we stayed but it had a nice atmosphere. Anna, the woman running the place, was super nice and helpful to us, she gave us a big list of things to do and see (all of which were great). ||||The hostel itself is a bit out of a way, and when you're walking up to it the bridge doesn't come up on google maps but it is there. It's put together pretty much entirely by containers and it's based in a former sugar factory||||Definitely get the bikes, they're so so handy. Definitely recommend staying here if you want a...
