Rooms are very small (this shouldn't be a surprise as they are very honest about the dimensions on the website) but laid out pretty ingeniously. For example, the bathroom door swung two ways and acted as the shower door as well. There is also a large common area in the lobby where you can go and do work / grab a coffee if needed.
The bathroom (and especially the shower) was surprisingly large. Lots of counter space and several hooks.
Front staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They always said "hi" when I walked in. I once asked for some extra pillows and they didn't have one (kind of weird but whatever) so they took an extra sheet and folded it into a pillow case for me. Honestly, it worked pretty good.
Some other quick pros: good AC, free wifi, a couple complimentary drink coupons, and 24h front staff.
Now, the one downside was the cleanliness. I always pull back the sheets to check for bedbugs (which there were NONE in case you were worried) but when I did so, I saw the mattress cover was extremely stained. There wasn't even a fitted sheet on top either - just a top sheet that kept slipping around while we slept. Pillows had the same problem. I took off the covers and they were stained as well. Yuck. There was also some hair in the bed. (We did just brush that away so not the biggest deal but still kind of off putting).
The shower also seemed to have moldy chaulking. It was giving "communal gym shower" vibes. Luckily, I did bring shower shoes and I would recommend that to other guests who want to stay here.
Honestly, the whole room needed a really deep clean. There was no daily cleaning either (which I think is the norm everywhere since covid) but you could ask reception for anything you needed 24/7
Now, if you're still with me reading this, I'll give you some tourist tips that don't really have much to do with the hotel itself but might help you decide if you want to stay in the area:
Very close to a major express bus route but be careful! Most buses are NOT part of the amsterdam city routes so don't buy a city bus pass like I did. It's just better to pay-as-you-go. All buses will take you to the airport in like 5mins so you can hop on the trains / tube there for better city access. It takes about 30mins to get downtown, which isn't too bad. Since this is a "hotel airport" the surrounding area is extremely lacking in things to do (ie. No shops or resturaunts). However, there is a Macdonald randomly next door...
Read moreThe hotel is not fulfilling its obligations. Settlement for a large group of 80 people was fully paid two weeks before arrival. Four days before arrival, the hotel confirmed our check-in. Upon arrival, people did not have enough rooms. The hotel, which was paid for 80 beds, demanded an additional surcharge of 960 euros. At the same time, the hotel denied that they had all the documents and refused to print them. After the presentation of all accounts on our part, after lengthy and complex negotiations, the problem was resolved, but only for one day. A day later, one person from the group, a minor child, was evicted from the room at 24.00 without explanation. The hotel employee defiantly refused not only to solve the problem, but also to communicate. The police, who arrived at the call, confirmed the error of the hotel, but abstained from solving the problem. As a result, at night we paid again for the room that was paid the day before. All these three hours, until late at night, the child was not allowed into the room. We do not recommend to anyone. These are dishonest people who ignore any communication and solve their own mistakes at the...
