I like the window in the room can be opened especially for my breathing problem. Our view is facing the high tension tower, but doesn't bother us for a night. Rarely I found the hotel so clean that you don't feel sticky or dusty when touching, everything is with a fine touchšø The 'living room' of the hotel is also cosy; I couldnt sleep more at 3:30am and don't want to woke up my man, so I chill out there; the staff kindly gave me a tea for free. There's also fruit & sweets plus candle lights. The whole hotel want you to 'Feel at home', feel so relaxing with the nature as it is surround by the forest, even just for a night stay as a stopover for our ride but we already feel immediately like in vacation. The hotel also provides boots so no worry if you are not prepared for the nature fun. Another sweet idea made you feel home is that Sunday can lazy on the bed/ 'heerlijk uitslapen' till 12pm, which I had a nice walk 2 hr walk since the sunrise and then have a snooze back to bed after breakfast, no rush to pack and go. We were lucky that it was also the meeting point for the Hel van de Heuvelrug bike race (180, 145, 100, 80, 60 en 35 km). The brasserie in the hotel is nice and fair price, also treated dietary request seriously, top service, recommend to eat there as we couldnt find any healthy food option in the nearest village except 2 big supermarkets AH & Aldi. Love to come back againš³š³š³šHartelijk bedankt, Team Buitenplaats de...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTheir 4-star designation is really pushing the floor for a 4star hotel. Hospitality is what youād expect in a rural, small market 3star hotel. We found our bathroomās toilet with skidmarks upon arrival in the room (gross, what else arenāt they cleaning?), basic amenities such as a mini fridge, hairdryer, or ironing machine were lacking from the room. Lastly the hotelās event venue hosted a wedding party till late in the night, yet we were given a room right above the venue making for a restless night. The ladies managing the reception were kind, but management shouldāve coordinated room assignments to not be impacted by the wedding. Lastly, the hotelās restaurant was very basic, with a cookie-cutter concept and menu. Not all drinks on the menu were available, and servers werenāt trained to offer any type of customerās request ( had never heard of a medium-rare steak, only understood a steak to be either medium or well done? and couldnāt offer a side of vegetables?). However, I suspect this to be lack of training and coordination, again, as servers were friendly and tried their best as far as I could tell, and the food they did serve wasnāt bad...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe hotel bar has unlimited tea/coffee and hot chocolade machines. The coffee is grounded by the machine, so I assume the quality is good. Everything is on the ground floor, though that means you might walk a bit.
Rooms are clean and good, though unfortunate that there doesn't seem to be any airconditioning. I wouldn't want to stay here on 25+ Celsius days. Shower head is water saving one. I'm used to those but this one is a bit lacking in the amount of water. Despite the pretty high temperatures the bedding seemed to be for winter. I should've asked for a summer version.
Staff is great. They are welcoming without being too invasive with their questions. They helped a couple to still get breakfast leftovers despite it being way past breakfast time. Same for a couple who wanted to check-in at 10.30 (earlier than last checkout time!). For me they immediately explained how to open the sliding doors as they do not automatically open...
