My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here not long after Peter and his lovely wife had started redecorating We needed somewhere close to home and my husband's work. The day we arrived I had said that our grandson was with us for the weekend and they added a single bed into the room for 2 nights and we still had plenty of space for the 3 of us We stayed for about 10 days or so while EQC under went the repairs done to the slab during the earthquakes. The carpet was never lifted and looked under until 3 weeks before they were due to start, this was about 4 years ago and we were going home to care for the animals although as they apologized for the room not being up dated we could have brought the dog with us, which was a lovely gesture. Nothing was a problem, if fact we told them we didn't need clean sheets every 3 days, nor clean towels every morning. We would certainly recommend it to anyone who just wanted to have a few days holiday away from home as it was such a lovely quiet place. Wanting a hideaway for your honeymoon and you can't take lots of time off , it's the perfect retreat. It's grat reading all the lovely reviews. As I said our room hadn't been redecorated or updated but it was spotless as it was. Sorry for the delay in posting this review. We are both pleased that it's all going wonderful for you both.
What was something I was dreading as we suddenly had to physically move everything out the house on short notice and they were our island in a Storm.
It became a lovely place to have a...
Read moreOur family of 5 (2 adults & our 3 boys who are 12, 3 and 8months) stayed here for 3weeks. We had a FANTASTIC time, the hosts Peter and Tess were brilliant and really went above and beyond with their service and their interactions with our family including our 3 boys but especially our 3yr old who is extremely busy and LOUD all day long 😂 Our room was clean and presented well on arrival, we booked a 1 bedroom unit which has been spacious enough for the 5 of us at a very reasonable price. For us as a family with 3 kids the real winner has been the fantastic outdoor area with outdoor tables and chairs, a large BBQ, a huge sun soaked lawn and a well shaded kids play area with a swing, balancing bars and a decent sized trampoline, my kids spent hours outside during our stay. We invited a few close family members for lunch and a beer or 2, we all enjoyed being outside kicking soccer balls and playing games which isnt really something that we have been able to do before when we have stayed in motels because the majority of them dont have that outside area to offer so thats a huge added bonus for families. Our stay is definitely 1 of the best motel stays we have had as a family and we will definitely be back to stay and enjoy the facilities. Huge thank you to our awesome hosts Peter and Tess for having us, its been a great few weeks we look forward to seeing u...
Read moreIf you are planning a trip to Christchurch then you should plan to stay at the Northwood Motor Lodge.
The rooms are super clean and have everything you need in a self contained apartment. Bedding was fresh and towels were super fluffy in the bathrooms. The WiFi is very fast and you get a nice strong connection. The rooms are modest but have everything you could want during your stay. The grounds are very well maintained and you can tell that a lot of effort is put into maintaining the property to a high standard.
The thing that stands out the most is the unbelievably friendly owner. Peter is the nicest most wonderful host you could ask for. Nothing is too much trouble. He communicated perfectly before our arrival and picked us up from the airport and dropped us right at our motel door. He explained the room and asked for our choice of milk before returning with a full litre (not the scabby little ones you normally get at hotels!).
The next day he was so kind to pick us up at the cafe where we had breakfast and take us to our car rental pick up.
The price is so reasonable you almost feel bad for the value for money. Thank you Pete for an...
