Have camped here numerous times over the past 45 years or so. Love the view and the birdsong in the morning is good. Robins, tui, bellbirds, tomtits, kingfisher, weka etc... Kea passing overhead. Stayed several days early January. Weather was great, stunning views across the valley to the mountains. Creek was dry at the road bridge but a short walk up the creekbed the water was flowing and disappearing under the shingle. Recommend heading up the Creek to where you find a track crossing it.
