Fergussons Motor Lodge — Hotel in North Island

The previous 'Disappointed' review stated the owner was rude and unwelcoming, probably due to them not being European. Well this isn't the case because I'm European and was treated in the same way. No pleasantries when I arrived, certainly not escorted to the room like it is advertised. The one bedroom room had a television not much bigger than my laptop and two uncomfortable chairs to sit in. The generous advertised bedroom took one step from the end of the bed to the wall. Hardly generous. The best motels I stay in frequently for work, go the extra mile - firstly being friendly and welcoming, cold water in the fridge and tissues in the room. perhaps the male owner might consider these. Also, never stayed in a motel that has charged for a car park so advertising free car parks is pompous. Would not recommend this motel and will not...

Stayed 1 night in what I guess you would call one of the back rooms on the right at the back as you drive in. It was a corner room with on one side an empty section between room and street The place was very clean and well presented. Definitely central and close to town. Off street parking and seems secure. Unfortunately it seems to be either on or very close to the heavy traffic bypass for the town and I found it difficult to relax in the evening and sleep early morning due to the noise and rumbling from trucks passing by. I am not a light sleeper and travel quite a bit for work. I haven't experienced this before. I occasionally stay at Fergussons for work/family purposes... this time I travelled with my elderly mother (88 years old). We were booked in, well in advance, however on arrival Richard offered to change mums' studio room to an access unit... Room 8, with the added benefits of a much safer bathroom for her. She was thrilled and very appreciative that he was so thoughtful. Mum loved this room and we will definitely be back! I was in Room 11. This is a 2 bedroom unit, and it is a really awesome room! So spacious, with a large living area and a fabulous bathroom. Parking right outside the rooms is also another bonus and there is always a guaranteed car park. Thanks for another great stay...
