Mokau Motel — Hotel in North Island

First off I'd just like to say thanks for the assistance with the thing and best wishes with the other thing. Having now met the neph, I recognize that what I thought was a fold was in fact a decent hand in disguise, only made possible by some fine folk of course. Now the selling points: The room was quite nice for the price, had a large TV, ample parking, and some good extras available such as wifi, snack bar, fridge, etc. Shower had good water temp and pressure. It's right next to some fish and chips/dairy/cafe, as well as a pretty awesome nearby beach with black sand. Usually I don't sleep so well when I travel, here I did actually get 7-8 hours in, which is more than I can say for most motels (and I've stayed at a lot). The owners of this motel are very communicative and helpful. We were glad that they ran out of rooms downstairs and so we were offered an upstairs room for an extra $10. The view of the river meeting the sea was amazing. Having benches outside on the balcony to relax in was great. ||It was very clean and had a well equipped kitchen. The room was spacious with a little dining and lounge area. The queen bed was comfy and it includes another single bed. They even have finer details like 2 mirrors. One for him and for her. Breathtaking view from the house-attached top apartment. Climb a few steps on the hill side next to the house and you're rewarded with a 300° view of mokau and the ocean, the inlet and the mountains behind it all. I love this place, and can't believe we almost missed it by assuming it was a 'drive through' town. They also have a mine, a museum and a couple of chip shops and cafés.

Can't thank the owners enough for such a primo stay. Fresh milk in the fridge for a brew, full set of kitchen things to cook dinner and breakfast on and a comfy bed to shag... er... sleep on. The Bathroom was super clean and most importantly for the missus, was spider-free.
