Miserable. And I am not ashamed to say this. We went inside without knowing we had to pay. The guy in the door told me he literally saw me get in at night and didn't said anything. So we didn't any access to the toilets showers or whatever. Charged us NZD$50 in the morning anyways when he could just come to us and say we had to pay to be there. We were just now in a payed parking in the glaciers we didn't knew about as well, an old guy came in to tell us because it's payed and we didn't had a reservation. That's the difference between only seeing profit and respect travellers. Upset with this situation but it is what it is. (And for any future questions, we checked in the check in and nobody was there, so if you don't see anyone wait until they come back to check prices.)
Edited cause I can't respond in other paragraph Don't even say honesty here when you seen us get in say nothing and made us pay. Honesty is saying we have to pay before get in. Sneak in before light? You serious lying at this point? I'm not even gonna continue after this response. It couldn't be more clear. But yes sure. People will see this and decide by themselves. I got my review. And like I told you, was our first day in the van so we "didn't sneak in" like you said. I even explained to you face to face and said the same thing here. Sadly not all kiwis are honest. And about the "seen you using utilities", so you seen us using utilities during an X amount of time and couldn't go there and say this is a payed parking? Been to more than 5 now using utilities just in this trip and even more in Australia and never payed. But yes sure Darren. My point is literally the answer you just gave to me. It's not even about the money is about the sneaky way of taking the money of tourists. Like I said, it...
Read moreWe as a family of four stayed here for two nights this weekend. 2x adults, 2x kids in the wheel house cabin. So cool to see kombi vans + boat cabin options. Great layout for our little family and so affordable. The view by the water was gorgeous for us city folk. Small enough campgrounds that kitchen/bathrooms etc weren't a hike for the little ones. Rooms had panel heaters so super warm at night. The wheel cabin had a small tv, lounge & small kitchen bench. We were able to fill up the kettle with water from a nearby tap and there was a small handful of tea, coffee, satchets + mugs. We had our own cutlery + plates etc so just popped to the kitchenette to cook or wash dishes. We found it great bang for your buck, and we all enjoyed the sunset walks around the wharf. A small convenience store like set up at reception. Staff were very lovely, friendly and the place showed that they take great care in ensuring clean facilities. We were very satisfied with everything and will surely be back in the future, perhaps summer time next round. After checking out we stopped at the liquorice cafe on the corner, a great cafe for food & coffee, great service, friendly staff,...
Read moreIf you want excellence camping and to visit a quiet , bay/bush setting in a short walking distance, this is the place. Your hosts are the best people, so helpful and friendly. My van was even parked for me ,after a friendly offer put to me, why not I thought, what a lovely gesture to a first time visitor. Just wow!! On top of that the park is so well kept and quirky with boat and VW Combi cabins all with their own cool names. I was instantly out taking pics of it all as only there one night. When I return it will be for a longer stay. You will smile the whole time you stay here, especially if you strike good weather as I did. But even if you dont it's a place where you can find sanctuary and your smile will...
