Our welcome on arrival was great with good explanations of various aspects of the apartment that we booked.||The apartment itself was large with two separate, slightly odd-shaped bedrooms. One with a reasonably comfortable queen bed, the other two singles.|The bathrooms were clean and the view from the living room pretty with a substantial deck area.||But, in spite of that, the living and dining room furniture was a real let down. It seems each apartment is owned separately and furnished by the individual. This apartment had very old, dated lounge furniture that was tired and really not up to standard. The dining room table and chairs were plastic 'rattan' and definitely outdoor furniture which was odd. The carpet was buckled in places and while the kitchen seemed clean, there was a strong smell of old food through area. The kitchen equipment and crockery seems to be an eclectic mix of things no one wanted but couldn't throw away. ||The deck was very pleasant but the clear glass divider between our apartment and the neighboring apartment's deck meant it was all a bit awkward when we sat outside pretending that we couldn't see/hear each other.||Probably wonderful for beach-loving families but a bit disappointing for us. Maybe a different apartment would have...
Read moreUpdate: I’ve since stayed here twice in July 21 and April 23 and did not have any incidents (although we did not use the pool this time).
Irrespective my initial review still stands. We did make the property manager know at the time who was aware (as did the resident who had a go at me) but nothing was done about it.
Going forward, I can appreciate the residents POV. I don’t know what the situation is there now but this was just my personal experience and observation at the time.

Nice apartments, great facilities however would not recommend this place for families. What I didn’t anticipate about this resort is there are permanent residents that live here (retirees, etc) and unfortunately causes holiday makers to clash with this bunch. I stayed here for a week and there was a guy who I believe lived on the bottom floor? who would come out every so often to tell the pool to “keep it down” in the afternoons in January. This was the pool allocated for families. I found myself and others engage in altercations with him as he’d be yelling at the kids in the pool (we stayed in the apartment directly in front of the family pool). My observation is this resort markets to extremely different populations that have VERY different expectations of...
Read moreThe Ohope Beach Resort was a lovely place to stay. Our hosts Kevin & Michelle were very friendly, efficient & responsive to any minor issues that occurred. The apartment itself was very clean & had good quality linens/towels. It was a restful place to stay after a busy day site-seeing. The only criticism that I had was that the corner seating unit in the living area was very low & had no real back support when sitting so not very comfortable. I understand these apartments are individually owned so that was no reflection on the hosts. We had been travelling for a few weeks so it was great to have a washing machine & tumble dryer. The apartment was well equipped & if you were so inclined you could cook proper meals without any problems. The Port Ohope cafe & store was next door, they did good meals & had basic provisions like drinks, milk & bread ... so very handy. We chose this resort as we were visiting family nearby but I would have no hesitation in booking it again as it was so nice. Stay here you will not be disappointed! Many thanks to Kevin & Michelle.
