My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed at the Onemana Chalets in January 2014 and we loved our visit. Christine was a great manager who accommodated us, assisted us with finding different restaurants, attractions in the area, and helped me a great deal when I was trying make my reservation. I was making the reservation via Skype internationally and the connection was bad, we kept getting cut off, but Christine was very patient. ||||Accommodations: My wife and I agree that when we retire we want to own a home like the chalet in which we stayed. The size is right, there is enough room for everyone. I loved being able to park our car next to the chalet. Fully stocked kitchen with utensils, we enjoyed making our own meals and eating on the deck overlooking the entire property. My wife and I agree that the chalet is one of the nice properties were we have stayed.||||Location: Within walking distance of a beautiful beach with not many people on it. My family and I made great use of the beach.||||Onemana is a small town about 8km from Whangmata. In Whangmata, we found a variety of places to eat, including a good Indian restaurant. We enjoyed seeing all the Santas on surfboards from the light posts in while in Whangmata.||||I highly recommend this property and I look forward to staying there again. Can't say enough about the property and Christine. My family and I had a...
Read moreSadly we didn't get to experience a stay in one of the chalets due to an additional fee of $50 being added onto the total, only THREE days before we were due to arrive. The manager informed us that a meeting was held on the Saturday where the owners decided that an additional charge of $50 will be added for cleaning. This is after we paid the deposit and received an invoice for the total price. When we informed the manager that we were not satisfied with the unexpected extra charge, she responded with a text suggesting we should cancel. She also stated that we are lucky to have gotten the Chalet for a cheap price. This was the price that was advertised when we looked for accomodation- we did not ask for a special price. We were also informed a few weeks after booking that the chalet has been sold, so we had to choose one of the others. After a discussion with the manager she said she will refund us because of the unexpected extra cost 3 days before we were due to arrive. She didn't refund the total amount. I have sent a text highlighting this but I haven't received a response yet. Very disappointing and stressful as I had to find different accommodation 3 days...
Read moreMy family of four stayed at the Onemana Beach Chalets for three nights while visiting the Coromandel Peninsula (Onemana is a small and attractive beach settlement 10 minutes drive from Whangamata). The location is really quiet and the chalet we stayed in (Chalet 5) was spacious, clean and well-furnished. ||||Our only gripe (and it's minor) was that the lock on the sliding door to the sundeck didn't work and a piece of wood placed in the slider was the only means of providing security (the piece of wood wasn't long enough to totally prevent the door from being opened from the outside but the gap was too narrow to for anybody to break into the room).||||I'd gladly stay at the Onemana Beach Chalets again and would recommend it to others looking for a quiet alternative to the usual Coromandel...
