Excellent hut. Clean and well maintained. Friendly and knowledgeable warden. Gas, cookers and kettles supplied (wish I knew this before lugging my own up).. The water was also nice and clean for drinking even though it said to boil. The mattresses are plastic covered and are reasonably comfortable. There were no moskitos while we were there in February. Families and people with kids sleep on one side and adult groups on the other. Bring ear plugs - guests can be inconsiderate with their noise. Expect to be woken at 5am by people leaving to see the sunrise from the pinnacles. The pinnacles is a 30 minute brisk steep and sometimes technical walk from the hut but is well worth the effort, especially for a good sunset! Note: book early if planning a weekend visit as it'll be booked months ahead, especially over summer! Book via DOC website. Costs 15 per adult. When walking up, don't take the Billy goat track unless you are keen on a massive 4 hour climb! The Webb creek track is better at around 3 hours for someone relatively fit. I felt like it was the equivalent of climbing Mount Maunganui 3 times. Overall one of the best North island...

The hut is located about an hour away from the Pinnacles peak, which was very handy for us since we wanted to get to the peak before sunrise. We were welcomed by the rangers when we arrived and given a basic introduction to the facilities. There were two large rooms filled with bunks. The room was open and so you could hear everything going on inside the room, which is bad when there are loud snorers.||The hut was very well equipped with a kitchen with burners and lights as well as a BBQ outside near the outdoor tables. The toilets were a walk away and did require your own lighting at night. Stream and rainwater were available there. We ate dinner and chatted for a bit in the communal dining area by the kitchen before retiring for an early start. We brought everything up and took everything down, including pans, food and cutlery.||If you have the option, splitting the walk into two days makes it so much more comfortable and relaxing. The hut does book out quite early, think we booked about 3 weeks in advance and it was already...

What a place. This hut should really be called a lodge as its by far the cleanest, most kitted out DOC hut to stay at. Although the showers weren't working (yes there's showers! ) I would rate my experience 6 stars if I could. Ranger Rob was a super cool guy and he really made us feel at home. Our trip started up the Webb creek track heading to the hut. The sign does say 3hr from carpark, but for us fairly fit 15yr olds, we took only 2hrs. We arrived at the hut and chilled out till 7.30pm when we hiked the 45 min (30 min for us) to the pinnacles lookout, 759 meters above sea level, where we watched the sun set over the Coromandel and the Hauraki Gulf. On the Thursday we woke up at 5:00am to watch sunrise up at the lookout. If you end up climbing to the lookout, I would recommend the following: - decent footwear, sneakers at least. - leave hats at hut as it is generally breezy - extra layer preferably wind protective - snacks for the 2hr roundtrip - make sure you have both hands free for climbing. @photosbyolly

Pinnacles Hut is a very well maintained DOC hut. Warm, dry, large with everything you need in the kitchen so you don't need to carry anything in cooking or utensil wise always nice. There was 60 odd people in on the Friday night we stayed so as expected there was a busy hum to the place and when trying to sleep. Would advise against going Friday or Saturday night if you don't like big crowds otherwise the hut is easily big enough to handle everyone. The DOC Warden on during our stay was Lester he is an asset to DOC, very friendly and informative and spent some time with us in the evening chatting away, ask him for some stories, a top bloke. Always get up early to try see the sunrise up the top of the Pinnacles, some days are luckier than others.

Fantastic one night stay at the Pinnacles hut where there is a full time ranger on site and capacity of up to 80 people. The hut includes gas for cooking and stunning veiws up to the Coromandel Pinnacles with amazing sunsets and sunrises (weather dependant). The ranger was fantastic and suggested that families stay in one room and the remaining trampers/walkers stay in the second room. Fantastic bio toilets and a single cold shower to freshen up if required. I would recommend taking ear plugs, sufficient food, and clean water for your stay. I would highly recommend a stay at the Pinnacles Hut.
