Nice Trail of less than 2.5/3 hours one way ( till hut). From hut, probably 45 min of good steep hiking.
Not so good part: Sadly, till hut, no much views & whole trail is covered by bushes. Also muddy & slippery at many places. Also there are stairs & more stairs & more more stairs!!
Good part: Not difficult. First half is bit exhausting only of you are hiking after long time ( like me). Other half is simple! Best views from Hut to the Pinnacles!
If you plan to stay overnight ( like we did), no moon & clear night is best for stargazing.
Hut has all basic amenities, clean bed, bio toilets, shower area, Kitchen with Gas ( no microwave) , basic utensils to cook ( no plates/spoon/fork).
Main thing: No charging point!
You will need ~2/3 ltr of water! Also, readymade food is best!! (Don’t forget to...

Known for its unique volcanic rock formations and spectacular 360-degree panoramic views.
From the summit, you can see the stunning scenery on both sides of the Coromandel Peninsula.
The round trip from the parking lot to the summit is about 12 kilometers and takes around 8 hours. Be aware ⚠️ the trail is rough with many rocks, suitable for intermediate-level hikers.
The trail was originally built for loggers and horse teams transporting timber in the early 20th century.
Not far from the summit, there is the Pinnacles Hut, which can accommodate 80 people and requires a reservation in advance. From the hut, it only takes a 1-hour walk to the summit, where you can watch...
Read moreI chose to break it down to two days and stay in the hut. It took me about 4 hours to get to the hut (it's all uphill and I struggled with my large pack on) and then it only took me about 1.5 hours to get back to the carpark the next morning! (40 minutes from hut to summit each way - it was really fun as you have to climb ladders and rocks most of the way). The rest of the walk itself is tough and made of large stones which is less boring than steps but can be a little annoying to walk on at times. We learnt a bit of history about the place at the hut which was so interesting! All in all I would probably recommend doing it there and back in one day therefore not needing a pack as that really...
