The park has huge potential to make a truely fantastic family camping destination. The natural beauty, location next to the river and privacy and seclusion are wonderful. Unfortunately it is not being managed well and has attracted many permanent residents as well as extended family and friends who are using it as their own private holiday destination. The kitchen was very poorly stocked with utensils etc, and I was told this is because the items were all being stolen... the Fridge was also very dirty with half eaten, uncovered food occupying many shelves. The staff were friendly and are making a good attempt to keep the park neat, clean and tidy. There were quite a few late night parties, parents drinking till late in the evening and kids left for days with little to no supervision. The trampoline is great fun but a bit of a safety concern and swing needing maintenance. I would recommend they focus on the target customer they would like to attract to the park in future. Family’s, cyclists exploring the Hauraki trail, and gold mine explorers. So much potential in this area, sad to see it not being fully capitalised on. With a bit of investment, marketing and creating a family friendly environment this could be an awesome spot.

Brilliant! Welcoming, beautiful setting, the facilities we used (showers and toilets) were clean and tidy, we are so pleased we decided to stay here. The owners clearly take pride in this place, and it shows. Would stay again for sure. We stayed on a non powered motorhome site, which we thought was very well priced. (we stayed 1st January 2020)

We were blown away by our stay here... stunning peaceful location, spotless facilities, a fantail filled forest and creek, a beautiful duck pond and field with plenty of picnic space... 10/10 experience!

I’m writing this review fresh off my experience with the Waihi motor camp.

On and off been staying at the camp for the last 10 years or so we normally stay in the log cabins which are amazing inside and out you really get a great experience of the whole log cabin in the mountains feel

Unfortunately this did not happen for us today as when we arrived the lady in charge or owner said that the cabin was not available all casually. My wife had called prior yesterday to book the as for mentioned cabin. She disclosed to my wife that the people staying in the cabin had decided to stay on as the weather was so nice. The lady could only offer us a shabby looking flat above another flat which was connected to the main communal hub kitchen showers etc.

I did ask why we were not contacted earlier as she had our number because we could of made alternative arrangements the lady said nothing and did not offer an apology.

I won’t coming back ever . Absolutely fuming. Good way to look after your customers.

Plus I had noticed the demographic had changed significantly when driving around the site unfortunately not for the better it looked...

Idyllic setting with a river babbling in the background but thats where the positivity ends.||Our first night we noticed the "management team" had many friends around, pretty much took over all of the facilities. The "No Smoking" sign in the kitchen was not adhered to nor was the kitchen closes at 10pm sign. They partied up big time right up to midnight. Really surprised that someone close by in a tent didn't have something to say about it. Perhaps they felt intimidated?? Thankfully it wasn't repeated the following night as I thought it was going to.||I suspect it's not an easy job to do (running a motor camp) but you need to be a people person, the lady who was managing the place certainly is not....
