Mataura Lodge Athol — Hotel in Northern Community

Stayed at Mataura Lodge, Athol, NZ over a weekend. Jason was so accommodating getting us in there last minute, even during Matariki. So grateful for your help and kindness. Arriving to the lodge I was stunned by the beauty of the property the setting was magical perfect way to spend my last night in NZ. After entering the property we fell in love. Perfect place to have a few couples away for quiet or loud adult weekend. Furniture, decor, everything fits into the surround so nicely. Beds are like sleeping on clouds, comfortable and clean. Felt like staying at a high end cabin in Aspen yet still felt like a home away from home. Everything you need for a quick weekend get away or a long vacation away. Highly recommend staying here I will definitely be back next visit and would love to stay longer to really enjoy everything the property has to offer. What a gem!! Mataura Lodge is an absolutely great place to stay in the South Island. It's an extremely comfortable, private and relaxing place to stay! Right on The Around the Mountains Cycle Trail and mid way on the road from Queenstown to Milford Sound/Invercargill or Stewart Island. Very quiet and private. Close walking distance to the Athol Shop/Cafe which has delicious food and coffee. The Athol Art Gallery is right next door as well with some amazing art works from local artists. You will not be disappointed with your stay here in this gorgeous country town of Athol NZ . Thank you Jason and Scott we had a wonderful few nights accomadation here...

This property is stunning inside and out. I stayed here with my partner and 2 of our friends for a catch up and a getaway from Queenstown without having to travel too far away. The facilities are amazing. We cooked a big dinner and had a cosy night in beside the most beautiful fire. The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The attention to detail with the decor is incredible. We couldn't have asked for anymore for a couples getaway and felt totally relaxed after a night in the countryside. Highly recommend for couples or a friends get away. Will definitly be back...
