Luxury Cottage at Kaka Ridge Retreat — Hotel in Rodney

When undertaking a "roadie" like we recently did, one experiences many different standards, styles & prices of accommodation and of the ten places we stayed there were several standouts but the Luxury Cottage at Kaka Ridge Retreat was by far the best! Katherine’s communication during the booking process was spot on, and we knew prior to arrival that we were going to love our 3 nights, and love them we did. Katherine and John were lovely & welcoming but didn’t intrude, leaving us alone to enjoy their outstanding property and its glorious views from atop the Tawharanui Peninsula. The cottage is detached from their own house and completely screened from it, but open to the wonderful ocean views to the south over Kawau Bay – and Auckland’s lights can just be seen at night…..and the stars are simply amazing, particularly when lying back in the bath tub on the deck with a glass of bubbles! The cottage has a very well equipped kitchenette area and Katherine provided a starter pack of treats for us, so we popped down the hill to Matakana, got a few other bits and pieces and dined in each evening. My husband and I have stayed at Kaka Ridge Retreat on two occasions and both times were wonderful. The cottage is beautifully located with 2 different views over sea and native forest. If you just sit still you can get an array of native birds flittering past in the foreground while watching the light change on the ocean. Very very serene.
