Decent place to stay in Arthur’s Pass. Very close to the visitors centre which is handy. Large shelter which sinks and tables, drinking water too. Recycling station just a very short walk with general rubbish disposable available. Awesome place to see Kea. They’re very comfortable with humans so expect to see them up close - just hide the food. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is because it’s a little confusing in terms of where to park. There a few spaces where mud was a bit of a concern too. Read moreI wouldn't really call it a campsite. It's a gravel car park for the visitor centre with toilets and a cooking area. The cooking area is enclosed so it's warm and has washing up facilities. The toilets had a frosted window in the door...so when the light is on you can see someone using the toilet!!! Also, nowhere to wash your hands. The fire siren to alert firemen to the station is right in the campground, so be prepared for that as its LOUD, and the trainline runs right alongside the camp, too. But there are great...
Read moreI stayed here just under the two columns which I didn't notice much until I was frightened by EXTREMELY loud fire alarm that went off twice at 1am in the night. I was questioning if it caused by my diesel heater and calling my campervan company for assistance before I realized it should be the fire alarm just above me from the big speaker at top of the columns because my campervan doesn't have the power to generate THAT noisy alarm.
