Burkes Pass Country Motels are a wee gem. There are only 3 units on this property. They are only 15 min each way between Fairlie and Lake Tekapo and a great little play to stay for some time out of the rat race.
Whilst the outside is a bit tired, our until was lovely, tidy and well maintained. The bathroom looked as if it had a recent refresh.
All the little extras Megan and Phil did make it worth staying. Moisturiser and liquid body wash in the bathroom, towels all replaced on our third day, and mints on the dining table.
The heating was on when we arrived which was a nice touch - we were a late arrival and Megan still popped her head in the door to make sure we were comfortable.
Appreciate that we were allowed to have our dog with us too at no extra cost.
Lovely back garden to sit in and enjoy the country noises.

The moment we stepped in the reception I was greeted with warm hospitality and a delightful aroma of the coffee. Read moreWe are cycle tourists and this was the ideal place to stay to break up our tour into double stages. There is a safe place undercover to store bicycles. Gillian is the perfect host and super friendly. She made every effort possible to make us feel at home. This is only a small motel so it certainly pays to plan in advance and book ahead (direct with the owners if you possibly can). The whole place is spotlessly clean and the location is fabulous. Be sure to check out the night sky as the lack of light pollution here makes for amazing star gazing! We would be more than happy to stay here again...
