In a word - horrible. Advertising said it had cooking facilities, there were none. BBBqs included, there were one. Room cleaning daily - not done. Many other ugly things but the kicker was the television where the volume was so low it was extremely hard to hear and when trying to turn it up it, the controls for the volume and channel changing had been super glued in place. Something I had never seen before - wow. If the management argues against me I took pics as I personally didn't believe that it would occur. At about $200 per night, save your money, go elsewhere, or sleep under a park bench. It's got to be better bang for your buck. Dan

A short walk from parking lot. We always bring walking poles but you dont need them. Binoculars are good as glacier is in the distance. Actually saw the glacier calfing through the binoculars and there’s a big waterfall near the glacier. Enjoy! HappiTravels Vacation Rentals Newport Beach California

While this motel certainly does have a spect view of the glacier, the rooms are basic and dated. They do seem to be quite clean, tho. Shower is very, very small. It's located just outside of town, so a member of our group is somewhat stuck while we go hiking.

My wife and I stayed here for a night as a mid-point after a long drive from Nelson on the way to Queenstown. The location is great considering you're only a few minutes from the Franz Josef town and glacier walk.

The room was fine, clean, and tidy. My complaints are that the WiFi was very unstable and didn't work most of the time. We relied heavily on WiFi connections for planning routes and sightseeing since we're using a limited data SIM while visiting NZ, so this was very frustrating.

For some reason, our TV had all of the buttons melted and unusable, save for the power and volume. We were unable to change the channel and were stuck on some random pop music channel. Furthermore, the remote's batteries were dead, so we couldn't change the channel that way either. What was the purpose of this? We're so glad that we didn't plan on staying here any longer than we did. If you're planning to stay here, be sure to bring a book for...

PRO: Location, views, friendly staff, kitchenette, laundry facilities CON: wifi is basically non-existant, only 1 washing machine so you may have to wait, the hot water in the shower was inconsistent

If you need wifi, this is not the place for you. If you need a fancy hotel, this is not the place for you. However, if you're just looking for a place to sleep with friendly staff in a great location (for much cheaper than surrounding hotels), then this is your spot. It's only 2 miles from town where all excursions start and end. There's also a small grocery store, restaurants, and gas station. We had no trouble getting cell reception in town. The kitchenette was nice to have available. However, be aware that they have posted rules about not cooking certain foods with strong smells. We did not have the same issues with cleanliness that some other reviewers have posted. Our room could use some updates but was...

affordable and clean accomodation however we will probably not return here. we booked 2 months in advance and this was the remaining available accomodation in the area. main 3 issues are: walls are very thin the smoking area is right outside each room so it would come straight into our room so we had to close majority of the windows. laundry wasn't working (which was the primary reason we opted to stay here)

finally (which may be more a cultural difference as oppose to a negative review), the owners (likely husband and wife) appear very hard working but they aren't as friendly or approachable. it was very much a "head down, bum up" situation. english appears to be a second language. it was a "what's your name?" "ok, room 9. your key is in the door. bye". and then there is a letter inside stating something along the lines of "no pleasantries needed at check out, just leave the key inside and...
