The room is old but it's well maintained. Everything works well. There is a free washing machine and $2 for the dryer, which is very handy. The bed sheet is really clean and crisp, so comfortable. The room has a microwave, heater, electric blanket, local TV, wifi. The room is quite pricey for what it offers, but it's in a remote area. The town is very small, so the motel is pretty much in the city centre which has public toilet, a small store, a resto. The lady at the reception was very friendly. The motel is apparently for sale $1.6m. I hope the new owner maintains this as well as the current one.

From the moment I walked into the reception and was warmly greeted, I knew this was a good find. Daryl & Lisa were very welcoming and informative and I quickly got shown to my room which was clean and very well equipped. The grounds are very neat and tidy too. There’s a small store (On The Spot) just behind and a fantastic restaurant (The Hard Antler) less than 100m away. There’s also a beautiful trail that starts just behind Heritage Park. Daryl & Lisa only took ownership four months ago and are working hard to make it special.

Excellent beds, great attitude, the owner was able to give me an understanding of the area, it's been a cultural landing site for Maori, and she said it will rain till ten am. Crikey entire annual rain is falling in the here and now. I'm staying inside the window watching. Fascinating.

Although this is a nice looking motel we had a bad experience. The laundry room was locked at 9:30 10 min before I went to get our cloths out. When the dryer electronics would not restart the next morning, the woman running the place claimed my laundry had wrecked her dryer and tried to get me to pay for repairs. Being an electrical engineer I suspect turning the dryer of while still drying my clothes may be the real culprit. Anyway we had to leave with a load of wet laundry that had sat in the dryer all night.

In their defence a sign did ask us not to use the dryer after 9:30 and suggest that half loads worked best in the rather under powered non commercial dryer. However nothing was said about the power being shut off and the door being locked! In addition $2 for an undisclosed but quite short amount of drying time...

On our way from Fox Glacier to Lake Wanaka on 18 July 2022, the state highway beyond Haast was closed for 2 days due to fallen trees and flooding. My wife and I had no choice but to stay in Haast waiting the road to be reopened.||We were luckily enough to have stayed at the Heritage Park Motel. Chris and his wife were the kindest hosts we had ever encountered. Chris kept checking for us the road status and even allowed us to stay beyond the usual check-out time free to wait for the latest news. After knowing we had to stay for one more night, he voluntarily offered us discount for the stay. We are truly grateful for their great...
