We just spent two nights at the beautiful seaside village, Kaka Point in New Zealand’s Catlin’s region & stayed at the delightful, Molyneux House B & B. Wow, what a pleasurable gem this one is. A truly authentic B & B like the way the were supposed to be with our wonderful hosts John & Joan really going out of their way to set things up beautifully for us. Joan’s passion for interior design was very evident in making us feel we were staying in a very comfy & lovely ‘home away from home’. John & Joan have thought of everything to ensure you have a great stay. The continental brekkie they provide is yummy, fresh & extensive, with fruit, cereals, bread for toast, conserves, yoghurts & eggs to cook however style you want them, just to name a few. The bed was very comfy, as was the lounge, & as for the view, wow, literally over the road from the Pacific Ocean which you can take in while sitting on the couch or the lovely outdoor patio enjoying some cold or hot in your hand. Take the time to read about John & Joan’s family journey, as well as look at the pics they share of the renovations they completed turning the once seaside crib into their beautiful home (coupled with the studio style suite for the B & B). The property is also very handily located within the Catlin’s allowing easy walking & driving distances to all this beautiful part of the world has to offer. Congratulations & thank you John & Joan for creating a real slice of heaven for your guests to enjoy in your lovely cozy &...
Read moreJoan and John made us very welcome to this lovely, comfortable, self-contained apartment with a beautiful view across the road to the sea no matter what the weather. We were warm and cosy, and the Catlins' attractions were within easy reach - just don't think you can do everything in a day. Tides and weather were a bit against us but we took advantage of delicious breakfasts and having three days to take things easy. We appreciated the beautifully set table and well presented amenities, good heater and plenty to read, music to listen to. We were able to catch up on laundry, always a plus when travelling. There's a full kitchen but go prepared with groceries, not many shops in the Catlins. Joan thoughtfully booked a table at 'The Point' restaurant for us in case we needed it on our first night. Home away from home with touches of luxury - thank you for a much needed,...
Read moreI was privileged to be Joan’s guest on a solo escape. Joan has equipped her home with so many small, nice touches on top of a well appointed suite. From the radio that that softly playing as I arrived, to the breakfast eggs displayed delightfully in a basket in the breakfast nook, to the banana bread fresh from the oven as I arrived. Plus the room is warm, bed comfortable, bathroom spacious, and any breakfast tastes are well catered for. Joan is the consummate host and this showed in her care making a dinner reservation for me and sending me off with more of the yummy banana bread the next morning. It was a shame I was only a guest...
