Would not recommend. Place is advertised will full kitchen facilities but when you get to the place there are a bunch or rules and regulations inhibiting you from cooking anything with any kind of smell. Wasn't allowed to cook a piece of fish for dinner let alone add some spices. Cooking involves smells, i cant think of one thing you can put in a pan and cook that doesnt release an aroma. I guess you're expected to eat two minute noodles. They will charge your credit card at their own discretion. Let alone being woken up before 9am by a tradesman banging around on our 'private' deck. Not allowed to wear to shoes inside. Multiple threats in compendium if anything is out of place. Tissues to be left in bin or will be charged on credit card etc. Everyone is treated like they are animals not given the benefit of the doubt they are not morons. Also is beside a main road so truck noise all night. If you are a normal person who wants to cook a decent meal with any kind of flavour that might have a smell I would not recommend this place. Considering you have to tip toe around in fear of your credit card being charged, not a place you can relax. Compendium is offensive - born and raised kiwi -...
Read moreWe stayed in a full facility unit and it was clean and meticulously maintained as were the grounds which were beautiful. Unit even had washer/dryer and very well equipped kitchenette- even an oven, Last minute we decided to opt for the jacuzzi which was accommodated and warmed up and running by the time we returned from our dinner. It was wonderful stargazing from the tub with a clear view of the Milky Way emerging as the sun retreated.
Short walk into Fairlie (used the back road- pleasant walk and we met a couple of laid back pigs) where we found a very nice place for steak, lamb and pork (sorry piggies!) chops, pizza. Owner greeted us cheerfully upon arriving spending enough time to get us situated with our unit and a rundown on food options in Fairlie and the other nearby town.
We were just passing through but I’d say this would be good base location for exploring Mt. Cook area and McKenzie country. Some extra driving in exchange for avoiding the...
Read moreTraveling south for work I broke up the drive with a night in Fairlie, and again a week later on my return. But the best surprise was the high standard of my accommodation! |Conveniently located in Fairlie (& to Lake Tekapo) I felt nestled away from the rest of the world in my private sanctuary, complete with the option of a private hot tub. |The units were immaculate and well equipped, the hosts were very informative and accommodating. Undercover parking a bonus too. |This was a perfect starting point, and eagerly awaited end, to a busy week on the road. I plan to return for pleasure as night at Musterers Accommodation Fairlie felt like a holiday! The perfect escape from...
