Very reasonable pricing, and Gay whom answered the phone was very helpful. We arrived 5 mins before closing, and she didn't seem to be bothered to help us right before 8pm. The campsite is right along the beach, and most of the paying patrons were nice and respectful. The facility has clean toilets, and the showers are nice, just FYI the water on "hot" can be extremely hot so careful when showering. You can see the lighthouse on the Farewell Spit from this camp, and at night the stars are so bright it's worth sitting out at night to view them, but be mindful for sleeping neighbors. The kitchen was nicely spaced out, however a few hobs were non-op, we still have plenty of time to cook our breakfast and enjoy our time there. I would recommend anyone traveling to visit Wharaki beach, or Farewell spit to use this place to rest over night, and take a...

Just the perfect spot for unwinding and getting refreshed. Right on the waters edge in paradise.

The camp is a true kiwi camp ground. Basic but well looked after. This is not a 5 star accomodation facility but who needs poncy spa retreat when you have the sun, the beach and the stunning Golden Bay and Cape Farewell/Farewell Spit at your front door.

Everything you need at your fingertips. Camp store full of groceries at reasonable prices considering the locality.

Comfortable cabins with their own (well stocked cutlery/crockery and cooking equipment) kitchen, clean communal bathrooms, awesome water pressure in the showers, kitchen facility spacious and well stocked cooking equipment and utensils for those camping.

Well worth the extra few kilometres to get there.

We certainly...

Very old school, hand written bookings, very dated amenities. The cabin we were in was still to be modernised, and wasn’t a nice experience but you do get what you pay for, camp sites seemed very small and people were jammed in like sardines, the men’s bathrooms were disgustingly dirty and the ladies didn’t smell like the men’s but could have done with a good clean including getting rid of cobwebs. The laundry is accessed by some partially blocked steps, ok for able bodied people, bit tricky if your unsteady on your feet.|The camp is right on the beach, nice sunrises, lovely walking along the beach, it is dog friendly and I’m guessing by how packed it was, is all good for some people, just...

Love this place we have booked again next year we made new friends swam heaps friendly staff and a huge thanks to the lady who cleaned the facilities. I like how they had a shower outside to get rid of the sand on yourself. We could fish on the beach (and catch them) lol. I liked the peace and quiet even though we went first week in January. Only 10 minutes from Collingwood for fish and chips. Although one downside they don't sell many ice blocks and on a sunny hot day in summer that is what the kids want, they need to do a big order before Christmas as we went just after new years the ice blocks had gone. However that doesn't put me off going again. There also cabins on the beach front for hire.

Beautiful location. Friendly locals and campsite. Great place to base yourself and take day trips out discovering an absolutely beautiful part of our country.. Close to Farewell Spit .. Salisbury Bridge and the stunning swimming waterhole and waterfall .. Waikoropupu Springs 👌🥰 hike up to Pillars Lighthouse for amazing views 😍.. seeing Mt Taranaki in the distance when we got up there .... This Beach Camp was the perfect place to stay . Stan and Barb do an amazing job of maintaining the camp ... it was a real pleasure to meet them x Friendly service at reception by Gary ..very welcoming. Looking forward to coming back again.
