We love this cafe/bar/restaurant and have camped in their grounds twice now. I always find the ambience and service of a cafe is improved when the owner works in it as they do here. The origins of the building as a School are clear, but the service and the ambience are entirely appropriate for a beachy settlement far away from city life. It's laid-back and relaxed, but with great personalised service, and a range of different kinds of tables inside and out to suit your style. The menu is excellent for a cafe with a challenging supply chain, with plenty of food on your plate at a reasonable price. A place we plan to return to.

Wow, what a fantastic place to stay overnight, the staff are very friendly, the food is great, and for NZMCA Members, you may phone in and stay overnight. They also have a hot shower and toilets available. For a donation of $20 plus eating in the restaurant sitting in Mary's Corner on a couch, with our drinks, we were very happy. Continue from here just 10km drive up the road to Farewell Spit. Thank you for sharing this special place ❤

After a beautiful track to Wharariki beach, if you are tired and feel hungry, don't wait until you get to Nelson to have some food. Just hop in here. Trust me, the food here is going to blow your mind, probably the price too. But it definitely is worth it! It's a beautiful establishment. The steak is 😍😍, the pizza is mindblowing, and garlic bread😭😭😭😭, it was magical. I'm glad I stopped here for dinner.

Extremely overpriced. Slow bad service! Dirty.

My hubby and I came in for lunch. The service was slow and very bad. i received (heated from frozen?) spring rolls & a salad 35 minutes after ordering, then other people who were behind us received their food until finally after almost 50 minutes had gone by, my husband received his burger - actually he had to go and get it from the chefs shelf! I asked for a refund for my $9 salad (!) because it literally consisted of 6 lettuce leaves and about a tablespoon of grated carrot. ?!! I saw some lounge swing chairs to lie on however they were covered in cobwebs and bird poop! This place need a little tlc, dust and clean and some serious hospitality training. I’ve given one star because apparently the burger was nice but it cost $27 !!! ?! Will not be...

It's great to have such a relaxed, friendly place this far west. The food is good, better than pub grub but relaxed and unpretentious. They purposefully cater for locals year round, providing a place to eat and drink and welcome travellers when they turn up. The menu is a mix of dishes covering differnt meats. I had a vegetarian pizza, which was delicious. I don't remember anything specifically for vegans on the menu, but I'm sure they would be the kind of place that would "whip something up" They also make a great coffee worth going back for. We will definately...
