My husband, dog and I stayed for three nights in a beachfront chalet with bedroom on a mezzanine floor. The chalet was a good size for a couple and had a spa bath with shower overhead in the bathroom. Ranchsliders led out to a deck overlooking paddocks with pet sheep and the ocean. The chalet was efficiently heated by a heat pump. The king size bed was very comfortable. I found the stairs leading up to the mezzanine floor quite narrow and steep. The bed was quite close to the stair railing which could be a little precarious if needing to get up during the night . It would not be suitable for children or the elderly. It rained most of the time we were there so it would have been nice to have had some shelter over the deck. There was a walkway down to the beach which we made good use of with our dog during our stay. The management were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The location is ideal if you have a car as it's only a quick drive into Hokitika as well as having easy access to the main road. There is a mini supermarket just along the road. The glow worm dell is just across the road. Over all we found the accommodation suited our needs well and appreciated being able to have our dog stay with us. We would happily stay...
Read moreStayed here 2 nights in a unpowered campsite because of such a lovely environment. I was greeted by two lovely ladies at the front desk who spent 10 minutes with me going over all the hotspots in Hokitika. The grounds are all close to amenities and bathrooms and kitchens are kept in pristine condition. Kitchens come stocked with pots, pans and other utensils which is very rare for campsites so I was pleasantly surprised. The grounds have friendly wild rabbits and chickens that follow you around and keep you company. There's also an alpaca, a pig and a goat kept on the grounds that will sure to be a hit with any younger kids. It's a 2 minute walk from the property to the Gloworm Dell across the road which is brightly lit with glowworms during the night. It's also a 2 minute walk to the Hokitika beach. No complaints, a very...
Read moreGreat location and great feel. Unfortunately the dryer did not work. We managed to find another camper who had $2 to spare so we tried the other dryer which did work. Managed to finally get clothes on. Unfortunately again the dryer did a below average job. At 10pm no one answered phone calls. In the morning the lovely team gave me back my change I had lot and said someone would look at both machines and find out why they do not work or work well.
Other than that 100% i would stay here. Highlights were the price and it was across the road from the glow works.
Facilities were good. Showers were good and kitchen and lounge were nice.
If washing and drying is not at the top of your list this is 100% the perfect place to stay. And even funnily enough if I come back to the Region I would book this place first...
