The Artist’s House is an extraordinary place: spacious, imaginative, and beautifully crafted. Every room is a work of art, with its own luxurious atmosphere, vibrant colours, and rich fabrics. It feels like stepping into an enchanted kingdom, where every corner invites relaxation and wonder.

It’s the perfect place to unwind, connect with friends, and reconnect with yourself through all your senses. We soaked under the stars in the hot tub, sweated it out in the sauna, cooked feasts in the incredibly well-equipped kitchen, shared stories, did yoga on the sunny deck, and danced barefoot on the plush carpet.

The setting is just as special, surrounded by art, a stunning garden, wide-open views, and the soothing sounds of a nearby stream, with a lovely walk along the Clutha River just minutes away.

Sonia is a generous and intuitive host, warm and welcoming while giving us plenty of space. We had the most nourishing retreat. Who would have thought such a gem could be found in Luggate, only 10 minutes from Wānaka?

We came across to NZ to play in the New Zealand Masters games in Dunedin and on the advice of a friend, decided not to pre book everything and just 'run free like the Buffalo'.

Well it suffices to say that this may have been bad advice during Chinese New Year and accordingly the Buffalo freedom was looking decidedly shaky. After several hours of fruitless searching for accommodation in our previously preferred destinations we started thinking like the aforementioned Buffalo and found "The Artists House" in Luggate.

Can I just say - what a great location! Close to Wanaka, relatively close to Queenstown and Arrowtown and genuinely a pleasant surprise.

The apartment is a stand out! Personally styled by the artist in residence, my wife and I kept finding new and interesting things to look at in the unit.

It looks luxurious, was sparkly clean - we love it!

Best of all, the owner Sonia is interesting and engaging... And even put on a surprise St Valentine's Day breakfast!

We stayed here for a week this past Easter - fantastic! Not only is the property perfectly situated in one of the most beautiful places in the world, it is also so comfortable with a chef's kitchen (including butler's pantry), several bedrooms with great beds and views, and a large living space which encompasses the indoor/outdoor living we all love. Add to this the deck pizza oven, spa pool, and river flowing in the background...and you just don't want to leave. We had several family get-togethers here over the week (reunion centred around a wedding) and absolutely loved it. I haven't even mentioned the whole exciting 'artist vibe' created by owner / artist Sonia which really adds another great dimension to the stay.
