PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE IT'S VERY IMPORTANT! Lovely owner who got you anything extra you were needing. When we looked at which places would be the best to stay in Kaitaia we came across this one. When we arrived and walked into our room I noticed several off-putting things. The cleaners had not done their job well at all because the place stank, crumbs were left on the table, and we didn't even have enough towels, hand towels, and face cloths. We also didn't even have any hand soaps or complimentary toiletries as listed on the website. We only were given one roll of toilet paper for 3 people in a room that sleeps 5 people. I found the bath mat was just lying on the bottom of the shower and a used towel hanging behind the door which is disgusting. There were two mirrors just randomly not attached to the wall and in the cupboard not sure why this is. The photos on the website don't add up to at all what you get. The website says you get a radio and an alarm clock however these aren't included as well as complimentary toiletries like already discussed above. A few other things were there was no information and welcome letter and how to use the stove. One of the doors was half painted and there were marks in the side table drawers and crumbs in there also. Overall I think the cleaners of the place have no idea what they are doing and do not deserve to be paid for...
Read moreArriving in Kaitaia after 10pm most Motels were closed or full. My wife and I eventually found Kaitaia Motor Lodge situated just on the edge of town. The owner, Gina, opened the office up with a smile and a welcome. There was only a two bedroom family unit available which we happily took. To our surprise Gina only charged us for a single room unit rate. That says all you need to know about the owners. They made us feel like family. The units are well designed, convenient, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location was perfect for exploring the northern peninsular and our one night stopover was extended to three nights. Certainly the best Motel we found on our two week road trip around the North Island. We highly recommend Kaitaia Motor Lodge and certainly...
