Loredo Motel — Hotel in Te Hiku Community

We stayed here for two nights. The new owners are friendly and encouraged us to ask for anything we need. They promptly attended to supply extra towels and toilet tissue when we asked. However unfortunately we didn't enjoy our stay entirely. The location is quiet but the rooms are very dated. One of the bedrooms had a damp wall with a mouldy smell, right with the bed against it was unpleasant & the whole apartment had an old plastic smell to it. The spa was broken, which was something we really looked forward to using. Plus we booked with breakfast included, which wasn't the case. They said the old system sends this confirmation, and they apologised about it. However when we make a booking with certain things included, we expect those to be provided or a refund should be offered if the service can't be fulfilled. I don't know where to start with this. Fantastic service from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We were able to check in early before venturing up to Cape Reinga, so we were also able to relax and have some lunch first. We found a stray dog (!!) and brought it back with us as it needed vet care, and Jay didn't even bat an eyelid! What she did was give us some bowls, food and a dog chain to help look after it! In the morning when we left she asked how we were and was very sympathetic.

Semantics aside, the place was clean and lovely, well equipped and couldn't fault it. Unfortunately due to circumstances, we didn't get to use the pool or spa, but we saw them and they looked clean and well maintained.

Met with I can only assume with the manager/owner of Loredo Motel. The lady looked confused as to why I was standing their until I gave her my name.I didn't feel welcomed at all and was quickly ushered to the room. The lady then commented that the room was only for myself and grand daughter and assumed my daughter and the baby was staying as well, I felt as though I had to justify my family being their. The room was out dated and old and bed spread smelt funny (says my grand daughter). The shower was horrible with no pressure and stove was very old as well but worked.
