We recently had a 3 night stay at Puriri Valley Estate on Waiheke Island with a booking for 18 people. It had great location for the vineyards, close to walking tracks and beaches BUT it is does not measure up to its description of a luxury lodge nor justify the price. Undoubtedly it has been a grand character house set amongst a vast garden it has been neglected and is now in need of significant maintenance. It is tired with the bathrooms being old and dirty. More significantly broken light switches and wall plugs were dangerous. Despite its description to accommodate 18 guests, inadequate crockery , poor quality glassware and running out of hot water was disappointing . “Double” beds were singles joined together and overall the property felt unclean. Read moreSadly it is not worth the money being charged for this place. It did work well in as far as there were enough bedrooms and the view is lovely. The house itself looks great in the advertising but in reality it is run down. The double oven doesn't work properly so we couldn't use it at all while catering for 12 people. They mention it in their property information once you arrive, absolutely not good enough for the thousands of dollars being charged.
