This is the second time I have stayed at Waiheke Guest house. The first time I was with a group of girlfriends to celebrate our 40ths. This time I visited with my husband, sister & her family (all the way from the UK). ||||I want to break down why I think Waiheke Guest House deserves 5stars.||||Guesthouse - we stayed in the top room, which felt like we were in a tree house. The bed was comfortable and it was decorated with items that reminded us of our travels, including wallpaper maps and board games to remind us to hangout and let time escape us.||||The entire guesthouse has been decorated with items that have been loving hand selected by the hosts, many a reflection travel and times past. I appreciated the feeling that this evokes, everything is a reminder to let go and be present. ||||My favourite place to chill was on the large back deck in a comfortable beanbag looking out over the beautiful landscape watching the animals. ||||The Hosts - Grants thoughtfulness was incredible, an example of this is he has collected National Geographic magazines from decades and found out our birth years and gave that issue to each of us, such a special touch.||||Natalie is a zen-master and the perfect tour guide. We were fortunate enough to have several tours with her. We experienced the best of the local artisans (you must visit the award winning olive oil farm) and tasted some incredible wines, if you love red go to Jurassic Ridge. More than the amazing local people and business is the incredible landscape of the island. Nat seemed to know every single special spot there was to capture the beauty of Waiheke Island. ||||The Experience - You can’t help but relax here. Starting your day off to a delicious healthy organic breakfast, followed by hand feeding the alpacas breakfast was amazing. The kids loved going with Natalie and feeding the chickens and collecting fresh eggs. ||||A highlight was on our last night when Nat and Grant arranged a private wine tasting and paired food at the Guesthouse. The setting on the back deck with an open fireplace was picture perfect. ||||The reason I rate Waiheke Guest house 5 stars is that it embraces the true meaning of putting your guests comforts and genuine experiences first. The hosts got to know all of our needs well enough to be able to ensure we had a holiday we will all...
Read moreAmazing and relaxing. A great couple (sweet, fun, smiling, warm, helpful) run this beautiful guesthouse with a sweet dog, chickens that provide eggs you can eat, 2 relaxed alpaca's and all of that surrounded by greenery wich house many beautiful birds to look at. For a fee I got picked up at the ferry (thanks Grant!). I got a very cozy bedroom with a reading/sleeping/relaxing nook next to a window with a view on the garden. Absolutely wonderful. The house is also very nice. Everywhere you look you find a new (small) detail. Their love for travelling is all around the house. Lovely and homely. And eco friendly green! I did the island tour with Nat, wich I really recommend. I'm not a wine drinker, but the vineyards are beautiful, the lunch at one amazing and I love it when people talk with passion about what they do. I still tasted though, just do it 😉 It's a beautiful and fun way to see the Island and meet some locals. Even though there was a lot of rain during my stay (very unusual) I really enjoyd it and had a chance to just sit back and relax. I stayed 5 nights and would recommend at least 3. It's amazing. Thanks for everything Nat and Grant, Shanti, Al & Chino! Words can not describe (although I tried), how much I enjoyed my stay. Lots of...
