Waiheke Island Motel — Hotel in Waiheke

Warning long complaint: Not a pleasant stay especially heading to a new year of 2024. Unsanitary and Run down. Photos do not match the description. Poor check in management which we were handed papers of rooms no tour or any important introduction.

Since day one we were felt like we were watched closely from the music being too loud, to the kids making too much noise at the pools (which they only used once out of 5 days and then they closed it straight after til our departure day). We were told that it would be ok to blast the music if we played 60s music not rap songs (which we were playing reggae songs). We went on a get away for the 1st time with our parents, kids and grandkids. But tell me why it felt like we couldn’t breathe cause we were constantly watched all the time.

Housekeeping is not housekeeping where they don’t change your sheets for 5days and then expect it to still be as clean as how it was in the beginning and then charged us for uncleaned sheets when we checked out. Please check what sort of housekeeping your getting so you know.

Yucky. Stayed early January for about a week. On arrival, Carpet hadn't been vaccumed- toe nail clippings on the floor, filthy dusty, old stained carpet. Room smelt like they'd emptied a can of ouast in there. The shower handles, door handles - were broken. There was dust, hair and grime gathered in corners of bathroom. Shower- cold or scolding hot. Tap water green and undrinkle. Area smelt Constantly of sewage. Stinking hot. No aircon. No fan. Difficult to sleep with every window needing to be shut at night due to amount of Mosquitoes. Constantly had to request for clean towels, bedding. Pool was green when we arrived, spa was dirty, falling to pieces on the outside - with that wooden fencing surrounding it. Had to make sure my son didn't get cut/scratch or himself on the outside, trying to get in and out of it. We actually went to another resort to swim mostly.. as we found the location/area of the motel aswel, wasn't to our standard. However the staff were somewhat helpful.. when there was somebody there ! Travelling with a friend and we had a 2 bedroom unit booked. The rooms were large however the bathroom needed repair and updating. The water pressure was so bad we couldn't wash our hair and we notified management by phone and left messages about the water pressure but no response. On our last night as I was about to shower , freezing cold no heating in the bathroom, and there was no water. We rang the emergency number and the manager actually answered and a plumber was sent within 12 minutes but he couldn't fix the problem. No water for drinking, showering , toilet or cleaning your teeth. Fortunately the plumber took pity on us as no water was coming out of any tap and took our jug to another room to get water for us.

No further contact from management, no offer of another room or a call to see if we needed some bottled water. Appalling! We will never recommend this motel or stay...
