The complex is well-maintained. Signs on the front window to advise guests which apartment has been allocated to each, so obviously the property is under management or the owners live off site. Not an issue for us. The beauty of the area was what first drew us here and we've been coming back here at least three times and usually stay in Owaka so it was nice to get to stay at this lovely modern apartment. The unit was spacious, lovely views, bedding clean and comfortable.||BUT my only three complaints:-||Room 2 on entering smelled of cooking odours so I think the filters in the exhaust fans over the hot plates need cleaning.||Whoever was living or staying in the apartment above were very noisy or had children who did not know how to walk quietly but thumped. Thankfully the thumping walk stopped about after 10.30pm but started up again the next morning and being a rainy day the next day, we enjoyed a morning of thumping from whoever it was unable to walk quietly, until we left at 10.30 for the day. The second night for some reason no more thumping walk so either different guests or other guests complained to them.||May I suggest that any guests booked into the top floor apartment be advised to be considerate of guests below, especially if they have children. No running, no thumping walk. Either there is no insulation in the flooring (which unfortunately happens in a lot of 2 storey homes) which for rental accommodation should be installed and/or its timber flooring in the upstairs apartment.||A minor issue is when power goes off about 2 hours before vacating time, which is out of anyone's hands, everything stops working, even water (hence toilets or you're in the shower). Tried to telephone management but phone in hallway not working. Rang on our mobile, message left. |Less than 2 hours to vacating time, you'd want to have completed your ablutions, and clean the dishes etc before vacating but talking to other guests they were concerned, but I think these would be exceptional circumstances that one could not wash and put away dishes...
Read morethe apartment was nice. beach access was a short walk down. i stood outside taking in the sounds of the waves until it got too dark.||we had dinner, showered, and were lounging, out of the corner of my eye, i saw something went by from where my husband was sitting to behind the couch where my daughter was sitting. didn't think much of it, until my husband said, rather matter of factly, "a mouse went by" ... that was the end of it ...||below is the email received from the owner shortly after i checked out the following morning,||Good Morning xxxxxxx, |Oh my goodness I'm very sorry! Im Guessing the cold weather has bought him in! My apologies I was away in the evening, Thankyou for letting me know, I will make sure to get it taken care of today,|Kind Regards xxxxxxx||really didn't appreciate the flippancy. i didn't report a problem with the kitchen plumbing!||there was an easy fix. the owner could've came over and moved us to a different unit. we had the whole place to ourselves. instead i spent the stormy night (gale force winds) with the suitcase behind the bedroom room. the suitcase didn't block the entire gap under the door. light was on all night. adding salt to injury, the bedroom never warmed...
Read moreWe were looking forward to staying here given it’s rating. We were surprised to arrive and find no one there and a note on the window telling us which unit was ours. ||The weather was fine but cold, about 5 degrees outside. While the heater was on there was a chill in the room so we turned the temperature up high however according to the heater it never got past 15 degrees overnight. The addition blanket helped but still a cool night. ||A stand alone heater was provided the next day which solved the heating problem which was really appreciated. ||While the view is so good, the room was a little disappointing as there were cobwebs in corners and around the ceiling in both the main room and around the window in the bathroom - not what we expected! ||We also didn’t expect to have to do our dishes before we left or be fined $25 if we didn’t. ||Would we stay here again,...
