Unfortunately a poorly designed campground in stunning surroundings. The campground is right on the beach, but that is probably the only redeeming thing about it. The sites are unmarked, so you have no personal space and people can park 5 feet from you, almost all the sites are on slanted- unlevel ground, so your car/tent/campervan are tilted. There are minimal picnic tables and some of these are so tilted the food slides off. The bathroom- kitchen-shower shed is badly designed, the bathroom had no counter space to put your toiletries on, it had no changing rooms and nowhere to sit down or put things down on except the floor or the shower stall- both of which are soaking wet from the showers. The toilets and the sinks are too close for comfort, with people brushing their teeth next to people taking a dump and trying to use the hairdryer plug and share the one small mirror. I was frustrated just trying to put clean clothes on without getting them dirty from the wet floor and getting socks and shoes on in a puddle of dirty water negated the benefits of washing them in the shower. The shower did have lots of hot water, but it was pretty dirty too. A disappointing campsite. I’ve seen public bathrooms better kept and...

I'll start by saying the food here is delicious but the staff need some hospitality training.

We were 'greeted' with staff slumped over the counters clearly bored - although I don't know why, there were plenty of people around - and annoyed that we had interrupted their chat. They glumly told us that it was only cabinet food at this time of the day (10.30am), no menu available until after 11am. We chose to go for a walk and arrived back at the cafe at 11.45, only to then be told breakfast had finished and lunch wasn't available until 12! What cafe has a breakfast window of 11-12, when they open at 9.30?

With no other nearby options we decided to wait until 12 while the staff did nothing but stand behind the counter chatting. We eventually ordered the fish of the day and the beef burger + chips, minus the egg - which the staff begrudgingly confirmed would be ok to do - when it arrived, the burger had 2 eggs and a salad, no chips. Thankfully after taking out the eggs the burger was delicious, possibly one of the best, and I didn't miss the chips.

The food definitely saved this from being a poor experience. It's amazing what the lack of smile and warm welcome can do to a person's...

We went to this place on Saturday 21 Sept. It was a moderately busy lunchtime but not overly so. The clearly understaffed workforce were preparing food and drinks. We rocked up...and were obviously wearing invisibility cloaks and could have raided the till unnoticed despite them quite clearly looking in our direction. Not one simple greeting. ...like "Hi - really busy..be with you shortly."..Nope ...crickets. Arrogant manager (german Basil Fawlty) when politely challenged over this appalling rudeness, said ludicrously "I didnt see you!" We were also served after others whod arrived after us. My wife has worked in hospitality herself and was livid. Lift your game and learn some basic manners or find another career where being pilite isnt such a chore for you Manager!

Be warned...

Tumu Toka CurioScape is a place where you can relax, thing and plan your trip in the nice atmosphere. Restaurant & Cafe - breakfast was delicious; coffee was good. It was nice start point even we had rain and cold from early morning. Museum is wonderful. We could enjoy short, high quality films about animals, forest, local people. We were fascinated by the film about things that local people made from ocean algae and tree bark and what ‘ancient fish’ they found in the local rivers! How they live together with nature! My 4 years old daughter was fascinated by everything at the exhibition! We had learning and fun time together! Thank you the crew of the Tumu Toka CurioScape!

Lovely place. Nice campsite but the sites are on very steep slopes for a campsite. Also powered sites are rock hard so no tent camping with power unless you have a big RV. Be aware that you cannot use the kitchens and bathrooms between 11 and 2 which is quite strictly enforced by the staff. First we got notification 3 minutes before 11 that we had to finish breakfast. Then I was requested to leave the shower at 2.10 since they were not ready yet. I understand having to clean but not allowing to use the bathroom for hours on end is a bit too much to ask IMHO. Scenery makes up for some of it.

Friendly but incompetent (!!!) staff. In 2 hours time not once did they come to the table to ask for new drinks or if we wanted to order anything to eat. When I went to order food at the counter, the reply was that they take our order at the table... Food was presented nicely, garlic bread entrée was more a cheese bread without any garlic. Seafood entrée platter was good. Ridiculous 5% surcharge on paying with creditcard, no paywave. Staff was eating and playing games behind the bar, other guesta were obviously waiting for service.
