Tica Bus Hotel — Hotel in Managua

The location is perfect and deserves 5 stars especially for Ticabus travellers. The hotel was very likely a nice place to stay at one point in the distant past, it still has an airy and clean open inside courtyard and a good layout, but the lack of maintenance, probably over many years of neglect, made the place a quasi-dump. The room we had looked like a prison cell, with walls that had been recently fixed with plaster but not painted over, there was no side table, chair, or anything to put your personal items on, only one electric outlet, and linens/pillows that had seen much better days. The shared bathrooms were filthy, there was no running water in the toilet so you had to use a hand bucket, there was no shower head on the shower itself, and of course no hot water which truthfully not a big issue with the heat. The expression WORST SERVICE EVER is short to describe the horrible experience in this disgusting, unsafe, filthy, sordid place. I reserved a room in Managua 2 days prior to arrival and magically never showed up. After I paid $40 for 2 rooms the guy at the front desk told me that I can't do the check-in because "the check-in it's at 9 pm only". After 12 hours of bus travel, this guy told me and my family that we can't go to the rooms I just paid??? My parents are more than 60 y/o and you can imagine how tired they are after hours and hours in a bus, carrying baggage through migration. We had to wait in the lobby for 2 hours to get into our rooms. We were tired, hungry, and extremely disappointed in this pseudo-hotel. The rooms were like a SAW movie, smelly, filthy, and I could smell the feet of the previous person in the room, just to realized that was nothing compared to the bathrooms. I stayed in one of the economy rooms and they don’t lie with that description. There is a bed (can’t complain), ceiling fan, a table, and plug sockets. There are communal wash rooms and the floor had flooded. The shower taps are incorrectly installed, I turned the hot water tap on and the shower next to me turned on.|The staff were really helpful and the WiFi isn’t bad.
