BON Hotel Smith City Awka — Hotel in Anambra State

Our family stayed at the Bon Hotel in Awka for the weekend of January 22nd while we buried a beloved family member. We had a very good experience in the Bon Hotel Owerri so we expected a similar experience here. Unfortunately that was not the case. The structure is good but the staff are not well trained or well equiped for a hotel that boasts of international standards. Our room's air conditioner needed some work as it was blowing out warm air. We suggested to the tech that was sent up that the filters might need changing. The tech then took the dirty filters and rinsed them IN OUR SHOWER WITH HIS BARE FEET. He then replaced these used filters in our unit without a thought for our now dirty shower. I spoke with Chineye, Stephen and Cyril (their supervisor) about cleaning and sanitizing our shower and they attempted to send someone with a bottle of rubbing alcohol to spray the shower. I was able to convince them to send a cleaner with proper cleansers in the morning.I finally spoke with the front desk manager Kelechi in the morning and none of them saw anything wrong with this incident. In addition to all of this, no-one knew what tissues were, the toilet could only be flushed once every 30 minutes and the shower produced hot water for only 60 seconds at a time (which made showering difficult). The biggest concern is that although the hotel displayed a big placard that read "Masks Required for Entry", none of the staff wore masks and all the staff that came to our room were not wearing masks even though I repeatedly asked them to. I hope that the general manager reads this and improves...
